Orly Sparkle Holiday 2014 - Explosion of Fun, Steal The Spotlight, Bling

Here comes more holiday nail collection swatches. These are from Orly and I also got them from Sally Beauty Supply.

Explosion of Fun is like a party on my nails. It's got fine pink and purple shimmers and sparkling red glitters. You can get almost full coverage with 3 coats. I suggest you layer it on top of another polish if you don't want to do 3 coats. It's not too thick or thin and was easy to even out. It looks amazing on the nails and the red glitters are very reflective and look like they're glowing. It's the kind of nail polish that doesn't go unnoticed.

Steal the Spotlight is a lovely teal glitter with slightly larger holographic pink glitters. You can get good opacity with two coats but it's very thick and hard to get an even application. I highly recommend you thin the base with a nail polish thinner. I'm also wearing a clear topcoat on the swatches.

Bling is a gold scattered holo. It's very similar to Sparkling Garbage. The base is slightly thick but I didn't have any issue working with it. It's also a bit sheer so you need at least 3 coats if you're going to use it alone. I love the depth and dimension it has. I used a clear top coat on the swatches.
It wanted Mirrorball from the collection but they didn't have anymore at the time so I'll have to check back later or see if I can hunt it down at another Sally Beauty Store.

Orly FX Fight On

Happy weekend everyone! I haven't come around my blog much. Work always finds a way to wipe me out plus I've been a little busy and too tired to find the motivation to play with makeup. I have some engagement tomorrow so I figure I should post something before I get busy again.

Fight On is one of those polishes I got lucky and found at TJ Maxx for less. The base is sheer and has a lot of fine pearly white, blue, and pink shimmers and larger pink glitters. I wished it didn't look so frosty and that it was easier to fish out the larger glitters. It looks quite magical in the bottle and I wonder if the dark navy blue base is just too big of a contrast.

Orly FX Gravity Bound

You may still be able to find this nail polish at Sally Beauty. I got it from the clearance rack for $3.99 and I believe it was released like 2 or 3 months ago.
Gravity Bound has a sheer dark blue base with blue shimmers and purple and white glitters. Two coats is enough for full coverage. The issue I had is that the formula is thick and difficult to spread the polish evenly. Highly recommend you thin it down with nail polish thinner cause it's just annoying having work with it as it is.
It's a fun glittery color though.

On the swatches, I have two coats of Gravity Bound and clear top coat.

Sally Beauty Haul - New Stuff and Clearance Stuff

My boss has officially announced to everyone that she has accepted another position within the clinic. When I first heard it I was like NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Take me with you! I'm happy for her but what this means to me is disaster, confusion, and frustration ahead. Not just me but pretty much everyone. Oh well...let's hope we don't lose more people in the process but with the new changes and new management, it's like a tickling bomb. As long as I still got a job, I'll be ok.

Now on to my haul.  I stopped by Sally Beauty a couple days ago and picked up a couple of clearance polishes.

The first one here is Orly FX Gravity Bound. I almost purchased it when it first came out but I'm glad I waited. It was reduced to $3.99

The second clearance polish I got was OPI Push and Shove. It came with this mini base coat. It was on clearance for $4.50. The reason I got it is because it's a very shiny silver chrome.  

OPI Muppet Most Wanted collection is now available at Sally Beauty. Unfortunately, I was only able to scoop Let's Do Anything We Want! The one that got away is Kermit Me To Speak so I'll have to hunt for that one. 

Metallic Moondust, Stargazing Lilac, Stardust Blush

Another newbie you'll find at Sally is the Finger Paints Shredded Chrome Collection. There are 5 shades but I passed on two of them cause they didn't have enough color contrast. The are textured glitters in case you were wondering.

Sorry no finger swatches yet, my nails are growing slowly but I hope these helps too.

Orly FX Swatches - Can't Be Tamed and Rockets Red Glare

I need a vacation and I need Spring to be here already. It's been a rough winter. My car is filthy with the aftermath of salt mixed with snow and dirt splattered all over it. Every time, I think about taking it to the car wash, we anticipate more snow. On the brighter side, I always have some pretty polishes to cheer me up.

On my last trip to Ulta, a couple weeks ago, I scooped these two Orly Glitters that were on clearance. I used my 20% off coupon and was able to get them for $3.99 each, which isn't bad.

Can't Be Tamed has dark purple hex glitters and smaller silver glitters in a clear base. I found the base to be rather thin so the brush doesn't pick up a whole lot of glitters therefore you have to dip it a couple times in order to pick a fair amount of glitters. With this one, you'd need to dab the glitters if you are picky about where and how you want them spread out. I swatched it over Sparitual North Star, which I also picked from Ulta. Coincidentally, they make a perfect pair.

Rockets Red Glare has medium and small vibrant red glitters in a clear base. The clear base is not too thick or thin. The glitters spread out easily but if you are picky about where you want the larger glitters, you'd need to dab or move it around before the polish dries. I paired it with Rimmel Gold Save The Queen

Orly Galaxy FX Nail Polish Swatch - Star Trooper and Intergalactic Space

Hello pretties,

I'm a bit tired but wanted to share this post with you before I go lie down. I got these two new polishes from Sally Beauty supply about a week or two ago. I was debating really hard because the collection looked quite interesting and pretty glittery but I had to remind myself that I need to stay on budget so with all the self control that I could gather, I only managed to pick just two polishes out of the collection. So far, I've been doing good.

Star trooper has a very sheer dark brown base with lots of gold shimmers, small matte white glitters, and medium silver glitters. It's quite unique and pretty cool-looking, which is what I like. The formula is very thick and tend to goop in some area so spreading it evenly wasn't easy. I also needed 3 coats to get opacity. I would suggest a few drops of thinner with this one. I added a clear top coat over the swatches as well.

Intergalactic Space has a sheer dark purple base with fine blue shimmers, small bronze and pink glitters, and large round white matte glitters. I could not get any of the large white glitters at all. They all sunk into the bottom of the bottle and not matter how much I try to fish them out, I have not been successful at all.
This one is also quite stunning in person. It's also very thick and difficult to spread evenly; however, I only needed two coats for opacity. I am also wearing a clear top coat over the swatches.

I'm pretty happy with the way these two polishes look but the formula could've been better. Not really a deal breaker since I can thin it down.

Orly Macabre Masquerade Swatch

When I saw this polish at Sally Beauty, I was debating whether or not I should pick it up. I was attracted by the pretty tiny and colorful sparkles so eventually I gave in and scooped it up.

Macabre Masquerade has a dark shimmery cobalt blue base and it is loaded with small multi-colored glitters. The formula was very thick, almost goopy, and sheer so when I applied the first layer it looked patchy and uneven. To my surprise, the second coat provided opaque coverage though I had to be careful about my brush strokes to distribute the color evenly. I wasn't expecting opacity on the second layer since it was so sheer but I think the thickness of the formula contributed to that. Overall, application isn't the nicest but it's doable.

I think this polish looks like Christmas even without the traditional red and green combo. I also added a clear top over the swatches.
