Jewelry Haul - Charming Charlie / Akribos

Last weekend, I was at Charming Charlie and well I ended up with more Jewelries than I anticipated cause I haven't been wearing them much lately. Some of these were also picked by my daughter.

They had these cute nerdy cat and nerdy bunny watches ($15 each). Those were for my daughter. The strap is an adjustable faux leather.

She also picked these earrings ($3.99). They are actually pretty cute. I'm digging them too.

This pearl in shell necklace is so darn cutesy ($3.99). I had to grab it for myself.

This starfish key chain is adorable and was on sale for $3.99. I wanted to hook it on my purse to hold my keys cause it's just too hard to dig them out of my purse when I need them.

This chandelier head chain is really pretty ($6.99). I feel like I'm too old for this but like it though. My first time trying out head chain. I think would look better if my hair is curled.

This is the second head chain I grabbed ($9.99). Really like how this one looks but this one has an elastic band on the back.

And lastly, probably my favorite piece. I got this Akribos XXIV Women's AK553SSG Diamond Multi-Function Mesh Bracelet Watch from Hautelook. It was on sale for $96.97, quite a steal considering the retail price of $695. It comes in this huge and sturdy box. The strap is easily adjustable and has a pretty shine to it. I love the color contrast between the blue pearl dial, gold rim, and the silver case and straps. The diamonds markers also add a nice sparkling touch to it without being overwhelming. I love the casual and unique design. It's very sturdy and has a good weight to it.
It can glow it in the dark. It's water resistant. You can also set the date on the watch.

For the best deal, you can wait for it to go on sale on Hautelook again, which may take several months because the last time I saw it on sale, I didn't grab it and I really regretted it cause I wasn't sure if it will be sold again. So when it came back, I'm so glad I was able to get it. The other option is you can get this from Amazon for $130.49 through this link http://www.amazon.com/Akribos-XXIV-AK553SSG-Multi-Function-Bracelet/dp/B00AJD59IQ

Prom Makeup, Nails, Hair, and Accessories

Hello Beautifuls,

Long time no see. I have been granted to take a couple days off work so I'm having a long weekend to relax. Things are busy as usual, we are still short staffed, and I've been putting in extra hours at work which is why my blog has been in the back burner.
I was busy Friday and yesterday prepping for my daughter's prom. I think I was just as excited as they are.
I did my daughter's hair, makeup, and corsage. She did her own nails. I also did her friend's makeup. On top of that, I also played the photographer briefly. Getting two girls ready for prom, especially when you DIY will take you hours. Continue reading for details on the makeup, hair, nails, and accessories. If you'd like to see the photoshoot and additional prom pictures, please visit my other blog HERE.

Vanessa's Makeup

Because her dress doesn't really have much color, I decided to go with fuchsia lips and bright fuchsia roses of the corsage to add a pop of color and contrast. I did a cut crease eye makeup with a dark plum eyeshadow on the crease and sparkly gold eyeshadow on the lids.

What she's wearing:

Hair

For Vanessa's hair, I followed the tutorial below. I'm hopeless when it comes to hair and the video tutorial make it look so easy. Well, for me it was actually harder than it looked. I have yet to master the art of hair braiding. I ended up braiding all her hair. Including the middle section. I guess I didn't do too bad I think.

Nails

Vanessa decided to use a black nail polish and do a gold glitter gradient to go with her dress. She used Deborah Lippmann Glitter and Be Gay for this nail look.

Vanessa's Corsage

I purchased black and gold ribbons from Michaels, along with floral wires and a stretchy beaded bracelet. Also, I purchased a bouquet of flowers from the local grocery store. I still find making your own corsage challenging but if you just finagle with it, you can make it work.

Jewelries

I can't be certain where we purchased the ring. I think it's either Forever 21 or Icing. Otherwise, the earrings ($16.50), bracelets ($14.50) and tiara ($14.50) were all purchased at Icing. Initially, she was reluctant with wearing a tiara but this one is small and cutesy so eventually she was fine with it.

Mindy's hair and Makeup

I did a loose side french braid on the top and secured with a hair clip and she then made some loose curls with the curling iron.
For her makeup, I decided to do a soft smoky eye look with some sparkles on the eyes as well.

What she's wearing:

Whew...I'm done. It was fun getting the girls dolled up. I wanna go see Godzilla now :D

What did you enjoy most about Prom? Did you do hair, nails, and makeup yourself or did you get professional help?

Midi Rings Haul - The New Cool Way to Stack Rings

To be honest, I don't know when this trend started but to me it's new, lol. When my daughter and I spotted them at a couple stores this weekend we sure grabbed a few. I thought they look pretty cool sitting there on the top portion of my fingers rather than at the base. Now I feel like I want more.

So Aldo had some and they were 2 for the price of 1...Roughly about $8.00 for both. The first set here has a little bow with a tiny rhinestone and a band with small heart-shape cut out.

The second set we got from Aldo had an infinity loop ring and double ended arrow.

Charlotte Russe didn't have a large selection but I managed to pick 2 sets. They were on sale 2 for $8.00.
The first midi ring is actually just one ring with a wide band and small coil whirled around it. It didn't grab my attention at first but once I tried it on, I loved it.

The second set had 3 rings. One that said Love, one with a dainty purple flower, and one with a dainty bow. How cute is this? I love this set. You can stack them together or wear them on a different finger.

So what do you think of Midi Rings? Do you like it? Do you own any?

New Necklace From Shop Lately

About a week ago, I ordered the *Subtle Royalty Necklace - Multicolored from Shoplately.com. At the time I purchased it, it was on sale for $19.00 (free shipping included). It is now currently $27 with free shipping.

So the first thing that attracted me to this necklace is the color and design. I think the jewels all complement each other and look pretty together. I was slightly disappointed that the jewels didn't have more clarity or weren't more reflective. Aside from that I like that the size of the necklace isn't too small or too large. Just right in the middle. It's a nice way to add a little pop of color and jazz up a plain outfit. The length of the necklace is also adjustable.

Overall, I like the design and colors but don't love it. It's missing a certain quality that I look for and in my opinion I don't think it's worth the $27 price tag. What do you think? It does look pretty from a distance.

I received a free gift, which I wasn't expecting. I got this black chain necklace with a sideway gold tone cross. It's kinda cute actually although I think I would most likely wear it if it was a bracelet instead.

Forever 21 Haul

Last week, while I was shopping at Sephora, I stopped by Forever 21 also. Fortunately, this is a small haul but I thought I would share with you some of the items I picked up.

Monster Dental Floss. This one looks like a cute kitty cat. The good news is that it is refillable! I threw away the packaging so I can't remember how much I paid but I know it was somewhere between $3-$4. I keep it in my purse just in case I need to clean my teeth when I'm eating out, lol. I am always self-conscious about my teeth...what if some food got stuck in my teeth. Check your teeth before you smile, haha.

Apparently, Forever 21 has some textured nail polishes as well. I managed to pick two of them. I'm still not sure why the bottles look different but perhaps the new packaging is the squared bottles. They are $2.80 each.

I got this chained ID bracelet for $3.80 and the scallop necklace for $10.80.

I will post swatches of the nail polishes soon.

Charming Charlie Haul

Hi everyone,

I'm making a quick post of my haul. I stopped by Charming Charlie a few days ago and couldn't help myself but purchase these items.

I picked up this buckle ring because it has that chic appeal and design to it. It has gold tone detail and a silvery glittery band. This was $8.00. It also comes with a rose gold tone but they didn't have my size, which was unfortunate cause I actually like the rose gold better.

I love this pretty chain necklace. It was $15.00. I mainly purchased it to hold my work ID tag. It goes with pretty much anything I wear. The chain is a little long but can be adjusted.

This rose gold cross bracelet was $10.00. I love the simplicity of it and the rhinestone just give it a bit of sparkle. What's interesting is that it has a nut that hold the metal strings together, which makes putting on and removing the bracelet really easy. At each end of the string is a mini cross. That's very cute detail I think.

I needed some new flats for work and when I slipped these grey pair on, I absolutely loved how it fit my foot perfectly. The material is almost mesh like semi transparent with what looks like little glitter polka dots. I only tried the right side and to my surprised when I got home, the left side is one size bigger. Ughhhh, I fail. I should've checked before I bought them. I was so looking forward to wear them this week. Looks like I'm gonna have to return to Charming Charlie to get the right size. These were $25.00.

Lastly, I grabbed another pair of flats. I couldn't help but love the metallic green color. Normally, I don't really care for these curvy flats but they felt pretty comfortable when I slipped them on. These were just $20.00.

This concludes my haul. If you'd like to see more about what Charming Charlie has to offer, visit their website or a store near you.
