Flower Creme Eyeshadow Lilac You A Lot - Swatch and Review

TGIF...or more like thank God the day is over. This felt like the longest day of the week and I for sure thought I was going to pass out at work half way through my shift. My stomach was having an episode too so it made it very hard for me to stay focused. I am so tired of working weekends. It makes me feel like I have no life...well I don't really have much of a life anyways, lol, but I still need my weekends to recoup.

This would be the last product that I hauled from the Flower beauty line at Wal-Mart. If you missed my other reviews you can view them by clicking the links below.

Flower Long Wear Eyeliner Aubergine - Swatch and Review
Flower Beauty Lipsticks - Swatch and Review

I've always found drugstore cream eyeshadows hard to love and as much as how everybody loves the Color Tattoos, I still wished they were a tad more creamier. They are certainly drying out much quicker than my high-end cream shadows.

Anyways, heard some great reviews on these Flowers cream shadows so I wanted to see it for myself if it lives up to the hype. Only picked one shade to try.

Packaging

  • I think the packaging is beautiful. A glass pot with a white cap and rose gold trimming.
  • A stopper to keep the product in place.
  • Notice how the product inside is not filled all the way around. I suppose that's due to the formulation of the cream shadow.

  • Lilac You A Lot is a sheer shimmery pinkish lilac with a hint of blue and pink shimmers.

Product

  • The cream shadow has the texture of whipped mousse. It has a very fluffy feel to it. My first reaction was oh damn, is this going to work? I mean I really had to rub it in and around in order to scoop some up with my finger.
  • When I swatched it on my arm, I thought gosh this is sheer.
  • The cream shadow is extremely emollient and I was worried that it was going to turn in to a crease mess. I did not hesitate to test out with a primer first.
  • I struggled a bit with the application. As you can see on the picture above, no matter how many layer I try to do, it's still sheer and a little patchy.
  • Because it's so sheer, I didn't really notice any obvious creasing but I did notice some fading after 4 hours.

Final Thought

Pigmentation was extremely weak on this color. What a shame! if it came out anything like what I saw in the pot, I would've been a happy camper. I find the moussy texture rather finicky and a little too airy for my liking. I'm not sure if I want to try the other shades now cause I don't know if I can get past the texture. I'm disappointed that it only last 4 hours with a primer.
Skip this shade if you can help it. Perhaps better luck with the other colors?

My rating: 3/10.

Am I the only one who seem to have been underwhelmed by this brand or is it just my luck that I picked the worst shade?

Flower Beauty Lipsticks - Swatch and Review

Hello beauties,

This new makeup line has been all the buzz in the beauty world lately and of course I jumped on the bandwagon as soon as I was able to get my paws on them. However, for those who don't know, the Flower Beauty line is exclusively available at Wal-Mart and founded by Drew Barrymore.

To find which location carries the brand, click HERE.

Packaging
  • They have a distinctive packaging and a nice weight to them. They're a bit bulkier than the typical lipstick and they have a flat side.
  • .12 oz or 3.5 g

Flower Kiss Stick High-Shine Sweet Peony. This is a slightly warm light pink. Obnoxiously shiny and kind of makes it look a bit frosty, much more so in person than in picture. I don't like this color so much on myself. It looks much darker in the tube than on my lips. It's very barbie-ish looking. Kinda turns me off cause it looks weird on my skin tone. The formula is pigmented but doesn't apply as smooth as I would like. It also settles in my lip lines and emphasize any dryness I have. For the swatch, I did exfoliate and prep my lips as usual but my lips generally tend to be dry, especially in the winter. I'm really surprised that the reviews I read failed to mention how waxy and synthetic this lipstick smells. I'm definitely not a fan of it. Am I the only one who smells my lipsticks? It lasted up to 4 hours before it starts fading.

Flower Kiss Stick Velvet Lip Color So Gladiola. This color is a very bright coral shade. I do like bright lip colors but this is not something I would wear on a typical day. They claim that this lipstick has grape seed oil but it's far from feeling creamy or moisturizing. The formula on Gladiola wasn't any better than Sweet Peony. It's pigmented but feels much drier and also emphasize dryness on my lips. It still has a waxy scent but much less pronounced as compared to Sweet Peony. It is listed as a velvet matte finish, which I think fits the description, however I'm really not a fan of it. My lips are screaming for some hydration. It lasted very well, after 5 hours. Even after going through a meal, the fading was minimal  and it stayed strong through the rest of the day.

Final Thought

In spite of the rave reviews I read, I'm not totally sold on these lipsticks. The deal breaker for me was that it emphasized dryness and I don't have time to always exfoliate before I apply lipsticks so this not something I would reach for unless I have time to do so.

The High Shine lipstick might have looked better on me with a different shade. I wished the formula was a little more friendly on dry lips. My rating: 7/10.

The Velvet lip color is something I'm reluctant to give another try. I really did not like the finish. Way too dry. My rating: 6/10.

Have you tried these? Do you love them? What's your favorite shade?

Flower Long Wear Eyeliner Aubergine - Swatch and Review

How do you tell someone they hurt you? Or do you just keep it to yourself? It's bad enough that you're distressed and hurt and now you have to add more to your grief by confronting that person? I'm not reserved when it comes to expressing my frustration, anger, or disappointment but I still hate having to do it. I think whoever has got me to that point has heard a piece of my mind one way or another. However, the truth is I usually don't fully express the extend of the wound just cause I don't like being dramatic and I try to be mature about it. I always thought that if that person has a conscience or care, they would do the right thing. Hmm, I guess that's not always the case. Perhaps I do need to bring out the drama in order to get some kind of reaction. Anything is definitely better than nothing.
Anyways, my point is the worst thing you can do when someone tells you you've hurt them is being nonchalant about it. What can I say? I either know a lot of rocks or I have more intuition than I should :(

Moving on to more pleasant things, such as the eyeliner in I'm reviewing.

What Flower says about the long wear eyeliner...

-Glides on easily and “sets” for superior long-term wear
-Super smooth, creamy and blendable
-Luxurious, long-wearing formula is perfect for both soft and dramatic looks

Packaging

  • Automatic pencil liner with sharpener included.
  • 0.01 oz or .3 g. I have to say that's pretty low. When I twisted it all the way out, that little colored stick inside was only about 1 1/2 inch long!

  • Aubergine is a dark eggplant purple color. I'm wearing it on the upper lash line on the picture below.

Product

  • The liner is pretty pigmented and glided quite smoothly in one pass. I'm definitely happy about the easy and no fuss application.
  • It's a bit on the soft side but not so soft that it breaks easily either.
  • It's long-wear. I noticed a bit of smudging after a few hours but the liner stays on all day until I take it off. It also transferred a bit on my crease but that's nothing new for me and pencil liners since I have hooded lids.

Final Thought
I guess my main complaint would be the small amount of product in the tube, yet most automatic pencil liners do have about the same amount. This is something that will get used up quickly if you use regularly. I'm pleased with the creamy long-wear formula as well as the pigmentation and color of this pencil. Overall, I would repurchase because it's one of those few drugstore pencil liners that I actually enjoy using.

My rating: 9/10.

Have you tried these?

Flower Beauty Cosmetic Haul

Well Hello Hello! Look what we got here! A friend of mine told me which Wal-Mart she went to and spotted the Flower Cosmetics. I tried really hard not to grab everything on display so I narrowed it down to the products I think I would get the most use of.

Before I get on with this haul, I just want to make a couple announcements...

First, I must pat myself in the back because even though February might have been a short month, I think this have been the most productive month in my blog life! This would be my 61st post of the month! WHEWWWEEE! I broke my own record and I wasn't even aiming to do this much really but I must say that since I quit wasting my time on Luuux, I've had a lot more time to give 110% of myself for my blog. It was a good change I must say. I feel more accomplished, more focused, and more productive...Are you able to keep up with me? My small and simple goal is to have something up on a daily basis. I have a full time day job and I never pre-schedule my posts even if they are ready to post, I always publish them personally because as soon as I do so, I also link it on my Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. Typically, you will see me put something new between 7 pm and 11 pm, US central time.

For some time, I've noticed a significant drop in the amount of traffic I was getting daily but now it's picking back up close to where it used to be. I'm relieved to see that. I decided to revamp my page and I'm quite happy with it, however, I am still working on some blog improvement project soon to come. I'm currently tackling the Nail Swatch Gallery project, which is probably one of the biggest. Eh, I know I thought about it or mentioned it like a year ago so now would be a good time to start since I've been able to focus more on my blog. My second project will be the Lip Swatch Gallery. Third project, will be the makeup look gallery. Wish me luck! I'm very excited about it but that's going to take time and I'll try my hardest not to slack off, lol. If you have other blog improvement/ideas you would like to see on my blog, I am open to suggestions.

Ok...The haul now...

On the left, Kiss Stick High Shine Lip Color in the shade Sweet Peony. On the right, Kiss Stick Velvet Lip Color in the shade So Gladiola. I paid $6.98 each. I don't know for sure if price vary from one store to another or if it is the same across the board but I'm listing what I paid for reference.

Ok, one thing I wished I did but didn't and I will put it out there so that you don't run into the same problem. The picture above shows you how they seal the packaging. However, even if it appears sealed, I found that both of the lipsticks I purchased have been swatched by some inconsiderate idiot!! Excuse my French but it really pisses me off. The thing is, the dotted line is very easy to break into and when you put the cap back, it doesn't look like anyone broke into it because there is no obvious sign of it until you open it that is. So my advice to you is just open the damn thing and make sure no one swiped their germs on them. I had to sanitize both of these lipsticks with alcohol.

Next thing I picked up is a Creme Eyeshadow in the shade Lilac You A Lot! This was $7.98. I almost wanted get another shade but this color stood out the most and I wanted to try it first to see if I like the formula.

And finally, I grabbed the Long Wear Eyeliner in the shade Aubergine. This was $5.98.

So this concludes my small Flower Beauty haul. I actually wore the creme eyeshadow and eyeliner today but completely forgot about the lipstick because I was rushing. Will give you a review in a week or two or when I'm confident I can give you a complete and accurate review.

Have you tried the brand yet? If so, what did you get and did you like it?
