Lush Mask of Magnaminty Review

I've been using a few of Lush products but surprisingly, I probably only reviewed 1/3 of the products I tried. I've determined that I don't like Lush's fresh masks so much, mainly due to their strong scent and the fact that they only have a week shelf life. Strong scents on my face just don't work. Even if the scent is nothing offensive, I can get a headache and nauseated by it. When I came across the Mask of Magnaminty, I didn't think the scent was too overpowering and since it had a longer shelf life, I decided to give it a try.


Packaging

• Comes in a big black container that is recyclable. If you return 5 of these to Lush, you can exchange it for a free fresh mask. 
• I've got the 11.1 oz container, which is a pretty generous amount but it also comes in 4.4 oz

Product

• The mask is thick and has a fresh minty scent. It tingles a bit but it's not too harsh or painful. It contains peppermint oil, kaolin, and adzuki beans. 
• As I mentioned earlier, the scent isn't too overpowering, not the most delectable scent out there, but I was able to handle it for the time it had to sit on my face.
• You don't need to refrigerate and it can be kept for a few months but I like to store it in the fridge anyways because I personally like it when it is cool. 
• Apply to clean dry skin. Avoid eyes and mouth. Leave for 10 minutes and wash away with warm water. 
• It feels a bit tight as it dries on my face but once I rinse it off my skin doesn't feel tight or dry and it does a good job at absorbing the oil on my T-zone. My skin feels very refreshed and clean after use. 
• The only thing I didn't enjoy are the adzuki beans. They don't do much as I put the mask. Because the mask is so thick, I feel like they just get in the way. They are hard to rinse off and I have to rub them really hard and they kind of get all over the sink too. The good thing is that they don't scratch or irritate my skin, they're just annoying to get off.

Final Thought

I like the cooling and refreshing effect of the mask. I feel like it does a good job at cleansing without drying out my skin. However, trying to rinse off those annoying beans make my skincare routine less enjoyable. I wished I had gotten the smaller container but they didn't have it at the time I made my purchase. I feel like it's taking me way too long to try to finish this product.

Lush Eyeliner and Cream Eyeshadow Review and Swatches

I haven't shopped at Lush in such a while and on my last trip there, I just recently discovered that they made makeup now. When I saw that these were selling for BOGO free, I jumped on the opportunity to give them a whirl. These colors come with sort of motivational/inspirational names, which I think is cool.

Packaging

• They come in a clear glass vial. There's a generous amount of product in each vial. .17 oz or 5g.
• The eyeliner has a thin brush applicator
• The cream shadows have a doe foot applicator

• Lush Dynamic Eyeliner. Shimmery orange with sparkling gold shimmers.

• Lush cream eyeshadow Sophisticated - shimmery nudy pink brown shade. 

• Lush cream eyeshadow Focus - a shimmery light greyish blue shade with light teal shimmers. If I was only getting one out of these, this would be the one. So loving this color.

• Lush cream eyeshadow Intuitive - a shimmery yellow green with a hint of gold shimmers.

Product

• The cream shadows are decently pigmented. They feel wet upon application but they do set and dry quickly. 
• I've found that the best way to apply them is using the applicator and put a small amount on your lid and quickly pat and blend the shadow with your fingers. Don't use a brush because it will make the application very blotchy. 
• You can certainly wear is sheer or apply another layer to intensify the color. Wait until the first layer dry first. Be careful not to over apply though, it will look patchy if you do so. I think it looks best with two thin layers.
• I had the most trouble with Focus, for some reason it was patchier than the other cream shadow but it is also the prettiest color for me. 
• Without a primer, the cream shadow last 3 hours on me before creasing and fading
• With a primer, I get up to 8 hours of wear.
• I struggled the most with Dynamic eyeliner. The application was so patchy, sheer, and uneven and the brush applicator was very flimsy. Honestly, I did not know it was an eyeliner until I got home. I saw it on the way to the check out register and just grabbed it cause it looked so pretty in the bottle. I thought it was a cream eyeshadow. It doesn't look great as an eyeliner. I tried to see if I could use it as an eyeshadow and I don't really like it either. It's too sparkly and sheer for an eyeshadow.

Final Thought
The colors are gorgeous but the application does require a bit of practice and work. I highly recommend a good primer with these. At full price, I wouldn't be too happy, mainly because I do expect a product to work for me and not the other way around if I'm going to pay that much. At this price point, there's other competitors that definitely do the job much better.

The rest of yesterday's damage are beauty products and I prefer to put them on a different post so that it is not too cluttered.

From Sephora

• I got the Creme Apricot by Dior. This product feels pretty good on my cuticles and quite different from the cuticle oil and stuff I've tried before. A bit pricy but I think it may be worth it and there seem to be a lot of product in there. I will do a review after a few uses. $25.50.
• Lancome Visionnaire deluxe sample, using 100 points
• Clinique High Impact Mascara deluxe sample, using 100 points also
• Sephora + Pantone Precious Metals Shadow Palette, $48.00. This is actually not for me. A gift for someone :). 

From Ulta

• NYX products were BOGO 50% off and these new eyeliners look interesting. They are the Glam Liner Aqua Luxe (Waterproof). Waterproof liners are always up my alley cause they generally have a better staying power. I bought 4 of them and I'm really excited to give these a try.
• Prestige Total Intensity Against All Odds Liquid Ink in Around The Clock. I previously bought one of these in green and I'm back for more but geez there was hardly anything left on the shelf. I found this one on a totally different slot. Review will be coming soon. 
• Layla Ceramic Effect EL21. I've yet to figure out what these are supposed to do or look like because it just looks like a shimmery polish to me but I liked this color. It's a cool-tone sheer gold shimmer.
• OPI Mariah Liquid Sand Mini set. I couldn't decide whether I should just get the full size or the mini but overall I think this is an interesting collection. 

From Lush

• Yep, I haven't shopped at Lush in ages! I was in there just looking around and the SA introduced me to the Mask of Magnaminty and it seemed like a pretty good product so I wanted to give it a try. This tub is 11.1 oz and sells for 24.95. May seem pricy but you do get a lot of product, plus the packaging is eligible for the free mask if you return 5 empty containers to Lush for recycling. • Cupcake Fresh Mask was my daughter's pick, $6.95. I tried it last night and for me the scent was way too strong, it gave me headache, which is a problem I tend to have with most of Lush's fresh masks. To read more about this product, click HERE.
• I'm so excited to be able to try these new Lush makeup. I have one eyeliner (the orange one) and the rest are cream eyeshadows. They were BOGO free! One of these is sold for $18.95 so to get second one free is a deal I did not want to pass and there is also quite a generous amount of product in each of these vial. Shades from left to right: Dynamic, Sophisticated, Focus, and Intuitive. My first impression is that they are pretty pigmented and offer a good color payoff. They feel wet and thick when you first apply but they also seem to set quickly so I'm not sure if I might run into some trouble with blending. My favorite is Focus...OMG this is so pretty in person.
• I also got a free sample of Tea Tree Toner and Enzymion. Enzymion feels light and suppose to be great for people with oily skin because it absorbs quickly and is mattifying. This might be my next moisturizer to try once I'm done with my current one.

• Nail Ink. This is supposed to be tattoos for your nails. I'm curious to see how that works! The designs are gorgeous!
• Nail Flair Stickers. I've stopped using nail stickers for a while now but these feathers looked too cute to pass. Plus cosmetics at Claires are BOGO 50% off. 

So this concludes the damages I've done this weekend. I'll pray that it gets better.

After Chritmas Hauling. Yep, I'M Still Shopping :D

Ok, I admit, I'm an obsessive compulsive shopper and sales are how they get me. I found out through a friend (Hello Lisa!) that Lush was having their once a year sale only in one day, which happens to be the day after Christmas. Lush has sales?! For real? For only one day!? Oh come on not fair! At least have it twice a year. When I got to the mall, it was packed! It's just as bad as Christmas eve. Long lines, crowd everywhere. And one of the funny thing is every once in a while, security would card me, lol, because you have to be at least 21 to be wandering off there without a parent or guardian...I'm like seriously?
Anyways, moving on to my haul.

I don't know about you guys but I think Icing has a pretty cute nail polish selection and their cosmetics are always buy one get one half off. When I spotted the baked eyeshadow, I felt like I needed to get it, lol. It's called Bronze Me Baby ($5.50). It's like a bronzed plum color. I'm surprized it was the only color they had. So for my half off item, I went with a nude gold polish called Skinny Dipping Beauty ($2.25). I swear these Icing polishes looks just like China Glaze and the quality is not bad either. I wouldn't be surprised if China Glaze was making polishes for them.

It's that time of the year where I stock up on my signature perfume. It is handsdown the most amazing and sexiest scent I have ever smelled and I have been using it for the past two years. I purchased Givenchy Very Irresistible Eau De Parfum set from Macy's for $80.00. I know it is expensive but the perfume will last me the entire year and I still have a little bit left from the set I bought last year. The eau de parfum is quite potent so a little goes a long way. I used to wear the eau de toilette and I find that the scent is pretty much gone after a couple hours. On the other hand, the eau de parfum will last all day. The 1.7 oz bottle alone cost $75.00 so for 5 bucks more I get the lotion, body wash, and mini spray perfume. Holidays are the perfect time to stock up on your favorite perfume. Do you have a signature scent? If so which one is it.

I went to Forever 21 Accessory store and bought two pair of eyelashes, $2.80 each. These are by far, my favorites! The band is soft and flexible but not flimsy. These lashes are made to perfection. They look full and natural and I love how they flare out on the outter corner.

 

I stopped by TJ Maxx in hopes to find more eyeshadows from theBalm but there was mostly skincare products left, which I wasn't too sure since I never hear anyone talk about their skincare line. Perhaps I should just google some reviews and go back if the reviews are good. While I didn't find what I initially intended to, I saw a few Essie mini nail polish sets and decided to get the Summer Collection set. I know this is so last summer but good savings come to those who wait. The original retail price for this set was $17.00 but on sale at TJ for $9.99. Not bad. I really like the colors in this set. They are so summery! hehe.

My First Lush Bath Bomb Experience

I am more of a shower person since I like to get in and out of the bathroom but after I was introduced to Mr. Frosty at my last visit to Lush counter, I decided to try a set of limited edition holiday bath bombs. This one is called the Golden Wonder Bath Bomb, which is also available separately. As you can tell from the picture, it's a pretty huge bath bomb that is the shape of a gift box. How cute! It even rattles when you shake it. Like there is something cool inside, lol. This is perfect to give out as Christmas gift.

So what you do is you let the water running in the bath tub, then drop the bomb, and watch it fizzle!

The Golden Wonder turns your bath water into a turquoise color with gold shimmers, adds a soft fragrance, and makes the water feels softer. I actually had fun bathing in blue water, lol. It felt like I was on a vacation in the tropics. The bath was very relaxing and soothing. I felt sooooo good after I was done. It's definitely something I will need to try more often.

Stressed? Tired? Feeling down? Try a bath bomb and chillax. It's very therapeutic. :)

Lush Haul From Last Weekend

I failed to mention that when I was at Macy's last weekend, I also managed to pick a few more Lush goodies. I picked up a back up of Buche De Noel since it is limited edition and will be taken off the shelves after Christmas. I've really been enjoying this face cleanser. It feels just like Angels on Bare Skin but smells like Almond cookies. I was in need of soaps and was tempted to grab Honey I Washed The Kids again but decided to try something new.

Almond Coconut Smoothie looks like a thick pina colada smoothie, lol. It smells sweet and delicious! In case you didn't know, this is a soap. Just scoop a little bit on a sponge and lather up.

Snowcake is a limited edition product and only available till Christmas. The scent is hard to describe. I smell a hint of floral and sweetness but the fragrance of this soap is soft and subtle.

Alkmaar soap looks like a big block of white play dough, lol. It may not be the prettiest looking soap out there but it does smells very nice. It smells yummy like coconut to me (similar to Almond Coconut smoothie but less sweet) but on Lush's website they say it is infused with honeysuckle and jasmine.

I'm not much of a bath type of person. I like to get in and out quick, lol, so I mostly shower which is why my purchases are mainly shower products.

Lush Haul With Some LE Holiday Products

I'm so excited to see new holiday products. I obviously wanted to try them out.

I purchased two Australian Igloo. Ain't that funny that they are called Australian? Anyways, this sugar scrub smells soooo damn goooood! I left them on my desk for a few days and the scent was very therapeutic. This scrub has a blend of Siberian pine, Australian eucalyptus, and sandalwood oils. It smells clean, fresh, and I also detect a hint of coconut in it...ooooo I love it. I wish they made a soap that smelled like this.

The Jilted Elf is a shower jelly soap. This is my first time trying jelly soap and it was pretty cool. It feels just like jello, lol. The good thing is that it actually holds its shape pretty good in the shower. I prefer to just break a little piece out and lather it up on the sponge. I wouldn't say the scent is amazing but it is interesting and smells just a cocktail drink. It actually contains Vodka in it. They say it is supposed to be good for the skin. There is also tiny glitters in this jelly soap, however they don't stick to your skin either.

Buche de Noel. The last time I was there, they were sold out. So I made another stop at Lush during the Sephora VIB sale yesterday and luckily they have just received the shipment. I really wanted to try this facial cleanser. The sale associate said that this product sells out fast and is quite popular during the Holiday season. It comes wrapped up like a sushi roll with this seaweed sheet around it. It smells like a delicious cupcake. The dough kinda looks like it too. It contains ground almond and dried cranberries. I washed my face with it this morning and it feels very gentle and moisturizing. I definitely will restock on this before the season is over.

I love trying out Lush's facial masks. My favorite so far is the Love Lettuce but I wanted to try something new so I picked up the Catastrophe mask. It contains blueberries and smells just like fresh blueberries. Can't wait to try it. This is permanent so you can get it at any time.

At last but not least, I asked for a couple free samples to try. I wasn't too sure about how I felt about the Glogg shower gel. It smells like spice and I don't usually care to smell spicy. It is also a limited edition Holiday product. The Almond Coconut is a body wash that looks like smoothie. It has a soft sweet scent and is a permanent product. The sales associate told me how much she loved mixing Glogg and Almond Coconut together. I guess I'm gonna have to find out tonight in my shower if I like it too.

I found these OPI polishes on sail inside a hair salon. They were BOGO half off. I purchased Jade is the new black and Panda-Monium Pink.
