Rainbow Jelly Nail Look

In all my years as a team lead and trainer, I still can't comprehend why people don't ask questions when they have no clue of what you are asking them to do and to make matters worst, they act like they know it. Yeah!! I don't know what they don't know until I start to sound like a broken record and the job doesn't get done properly, it makes me wanna penguin slap sometimes. Wooo Sahhh! Thank goodness mama taught me better but I guess it doesn't hurt to have a bit of imagination.

Anyways, my nails were bare, I'm annoyed, so I decided to distract myself and have a rainbow party on my nails to make things better. Ain't it pretty!? I love how it turned out.Truth be told, I didn't come up with the idea. I saw this nail look on Pinterest and I knew that I have to try it! It's actually really easy to do.

First, I painted my nail with a dark base. Here I used L'Oreal Extraordinaire Gel Lacque in All Shine on Me. Secondly, I apply a couple layers of Finger Paints Santa's Magic, which is a silver holo glitter.
Next, I dabbed a 2 or 3 different Jelly colors on each nails. I used L'Oreal Miss Pixie, Berry Nice, Jolly Lolly, Mango Mama, and Zoya Frida.
And to complete the look, I sealed the mani with Sally Hansen Big Shiny Top Coat.

Happy 4th of July everyone! I hope you enjoy the day, the fireworks, and stay safe. As for me, I'm not doing anything special. Will be hanging out with my sisters at home, grilling a good meal, gossip, and watch TV...Oh and I am off work for a week and I haven't figured out what to do with myself. Yeah, it was sort of a last minute decision. Fail. I don't mind sitting at home doing nothing but I don't like feeling like I'm wasting it.

I purchased these Revlon nail appliques months ago at CVS because I had some rewards bucks to use and I got them for a pretty sweet deal.
I'm wearing Milani High Speed Fast Dry White On the Spot as my base color and once dried, I applied the stickers. Yes, they are stick on nail designs.
You probably won't be able to find these in store anymore but who knows, you may find them somewhere.
The design is absolutely beautiful. I really love how they look on the nail but I find the application kind of a pain cause you have to be careful when positioning them during application. They are very sticky and if you have to re-position them, it can make them less sticky. I also had to trim them a bit so that they fit the contour of my cuticles and the edge of the nails. It's a meticulous process and takes time.
Another issue I came across is that they don't all stay flat on the rounded edge of my nail bed. So if I wash my hand or use lotion, the sticker gets a bit loose on the edges. It's so annoying cause I am itching to peel it off.

Have you tried nail appliques? What brands? And what do you love or hate about them? I love the beautiful design but hate the application process and the fact that I'm just itching to peel it off soon after I have them on.

I don't know, perhaps I'm not applying them correctly or there is a trick I don't know about. I have a few of these I have yet to use but not so inclined to reach for them. Do you have any tips or tricks?

2 Nail Looks - Orange Pink Gradient and Black and Gold Lace

I went to see Maleficent today and thought the movie was quite good! Much better than I expected. I have just a faint memory of the original story. I've never seen the original film but have read the story in book a long time ago when I was a little girl. Without spoiling too much of it, the new movie tells a completely new and different story to the original version but in a good way in my opinion. I think it makes the plot more interesting and sentimental. Angelina Jolie looked incredible and her performance was excellent! So glad to see her back in the big screens. I think she was the perfect actress for this role. Maleficient is wicked, dangerous, and beautiful at the same time. Do check it out if you haven't already. 

I've been pampering my nails for the past couple weeks with these manis. I feel so proud of myself! 

Currently, what I'm sporting on my nails is this vibrant Orange Pink shimmer gradient look with a few sprinkles of purple glitters. I made use of the new Revlon Electric Chrome Spiderman Collection polishes for these nail looks. This nail look makes me think of a tropical cocktail drink. 

Product Used:

• I did 2 coats of Revlon Electrified Web on all my nails. 
• Once that dried, I used the sponge technique to create the pink orange gradient by using Revlon Gwen's Crush, focusing it more on around the cuticles. 
• I added one coat of Sally Hansen Big Shiny Top Coat.
• I spread a few purple glitters on the top portion of the nail bed using Orly FX Can't Be Tamed.
• I finished off with another coat of Sally Hansen Big Shiny Top Coat.

Last week, I sported this black gold lace pattern on my nails. Initially, I wasn't planning on stamping anything on it but once I got the gold all over my nails, I felt like it was just too much and needed to tame it down so the black was a nice contrast and made the nails look more elegant.

Product Used:

• I started off with one coat of Sally Hansen Triple Strong as my base
• I painted one coat of Revlon 1000 Volts on all my nails.
• I used one of the stamping plate I got from Bundle Monsters (from Amazon.com). It has this lacy pattern that also reminded me of easter egg patterns. With my Konad black special polish, I stamped the pattern all over my nails. 
• I finished the look with Sally Hansen Big Shiny top coat. 

Pink Glitter Gradient Nail Look

We woke up with some snow today. Fortunately, it wasn't much so driving wasn't too bad. This is what I'm wearing on my nails this week. I had some time on my hands for a new mani and came up with this lovely glitter nail gradient that I very much enjoy.

Product Used

• 2 coats of OPI Muir Muir On The Wall  
• Carefully place and created a gradient at the base of the nail plate with Orly Bubbly Bombshell glitters and spread them through 1/3 of the nails. 
• Added another layer of OPI Pink Yet Lavender glitter over Bubbly Bombshell for some contrast
• Seal the manicure with Out The Door clear top coat.

My First Successful Gradient Nails and A Harmonious Mess

So after "many" trials and errors, I finally accomplished my first successful nail gradient and I'm stocked! lol.

For this particular nail look I used two coats of Orly Harmonious Mess as the base color. And then I sponged Essie Play Date and Orly Harmonious Mess together to create the gradient. As my last step, I applied a layer of Out The Door top coat to seal the color and smooth the transitioning colors.

It may not look perfect but that's the best one I've been able to do so far. Perhaps, with more practicing, I might just be able to perfect it.

Do you have any tips on how to get the perfect gradient?

Lastly, Harmonious Mess is a new polish that I picked up from Sally Beauty's clearance section. I think it was $3.99 if my memory serves well. Not bad for a polish that was released not too long ago. It's a lovely pale lavender with a cream finish. Formula wasn't too thick or thin, fairly easy to work with, and was opaque in two coats.

Stripes and Studs Nail Look

I've been wanting to use the nail studs that Born Pretty Store sent me a little while back but my nails have been chipping a lot lately so I was waiting for them to be in better shape.
I didn't want to use the studs alone I knew I wanted some nail tape to go along with them so I placed an order on Amazon and received 30 rolls of colorful nail tapes. I know I'm going to have a lot of fun with them.

For this nail look I kept it very simple. First, I painted my nails with 2 coats of Color Club Fashion Addict, which is a pretty pale lavender holo.

After the nail polish dried, I applied the tape. I chose a bright metallic magenta because it added a nice pop of color and contrast against the base color.
Since this is my first time using these types of tapes, it took me quite a while to get used to them and get them aligned just the way I want them.

After I finished applying the tape, I added a top coat over the nails. That was a huge mistake! The top coat dulled the holo effect of the polish as well as the shine from the tape. It also made the tape look worst. I didn't like that but oh well. You can't see the imperfection unless you look closely.

Lastly, I applied some nail glue at the center of where the lines meet and inserted a gold stud there.

So overall, it's very simple, fairly easy and looks so good! I'm not used to wearing studs or rhinestones on my nails and I find myself picking at them.

Hauling Some Nail Tape

I'm getting ahead of myself and I have a few posts that are ready to be published but I'm trying hard to not post them all at once, lol. Gotta save some for rainy days, when I'm too busy or tired to be typing up a blog post. I should really be working on a few more makeup looks. Heck, I haven't done one in a long while. Won't make any promises but I am hoping to be doing at least a couple of summer inspired looks. If you have any color or theme in mind that you would like to request, feel free to do so! You guys are probably tired of seeing reviews and hauls. I need to switch things up more often so I can give you little more variety.

I ordered some nail tape a few weeks ago from Amazon and finally got my package. This is a set of 30 nail tape colors, for $3.49 plus shipping. Well according to what they say, there is supposed to be 30 different colors but I do see a few doubles. I don't mind it since there is quite a few colors but it's misleading and can make some customers upset.

Most of the colors have a metallic finish. Some have holographic shine to them, which I think is cool. I would have like a few solid matte colors thrown in the mix as well but oh well.

I hope to come up with some cool nail strip designs in the next few days. In the meantime, if you would like to check out where I got these from, follow the link below. The Anti-Valentine Conversation Hearts Manicure

I know most people have been doing cutesy, lovey dovey, Valentine nails these past couple of days. I wanted to do some too but with a slightly different spin. For the record, I do not hate Valentine's Day but this mani is just for humor for those who like that sort of thing. It didn't quite turned out as nicely as I had pictured in my head but it was close.

• For the base color, I used two coats of Milani High Speed Nail Lacquer White on the Spot
• I applied two coats of Pure Ice Oh Baby! for a subtle shimmer. 
• One coat of Seche Vite

•  From left to right: Milani Tip Toe Pink, OPI Mermaids Tears, Illamasqua Jo'mina, OPI What's With The Cattitude?, and Zoya Pippa.
• With a brush, I painted the heart candies. This was very time consuming for me as I tried not to mess up the shape of the hearts. In the end. I think I did a pretty good job. I wished my nail beds weren't so narrow. I had to tilt the hearts a little to allow more room. 
• Using a Sharpie Red marker with a fine point, I wrote the words inside the hearts. I didn't know what else to use. My only disappointment is that after I used a top coat over it, it smudged a bit and the words are not as clean or crisp as I would like them to be. Speaking of which, do you think they are legible?

It's definitely not my favorite mani but I hope you still enjoyed looking at it.

Green and Gold Chevron Nails Look and Tutorial

This is what I'm currently wearing on my nails. I started off on this design last night but it turned out to be a  hot mess because I got lazy and wanted to see if I could pull it off doing it free-hand, haha...BAD IDEA. It didn't work.

Today, I decided to play it safe so I used tape, masking tape to be exact.

• Step 1. I painted my nails with Zoya Shawn as my base color. I cut a few small pieces of triangles and taped them on my nails like so on the first picture.

• Step 2. I painted over Shawn, on the tips of my nails, with China Glaze Midnight Kiss. It's a light gold metallic polish.  


• Step 3. Wait for the nail polish to completely dry, then remove the tape.

• Step 4. I cut and another piece of triangle but this time I also kept the bottom part and place them on my nails like so and leaving a small space in between.

• Step 5. I used Midnight Kiss and painted in between the tapes and wait for the polish to completely dry before removing.

• Step 6. Clean the excess polish you got around your cuticles. Add a top coat and you're done!

Looks pretty simple and it is fairly simple to do but quite time consuming. In the end it's worth it cause it looks pretty cool and edgy. Make sure you wait for the nail polish to dry before removing the tape in order to keep the line nice and crisp. I know my manicure doesn't look perfect but it's close enough and actually looks much prettier in person.
