I was at Walgreens on Saturday, killing some time and picking up some snacks before taking my daughter to the school talent show, which she also performed in. I managed to pick a few beauty items along the way too.
Among those few items, I got this Wet N Wild lipgloss. I wasn't in the mood to do a full review and I'll tell you why in a second.
First, when I opened the plastic seal, I realized that it broke at the neck so evidently, I knew I was gonna have to take it back. While I have it, I figure let's just swatch it and test it to see if I like it enough to replace it.
I picked up the shade Throwing Shade, which is a medium fuchsia with no shimmers or glitters. When I swatched it on my arm, I was quite excited because the color was gorgeous. It had a nice pigmentation. It wasn't fully opaque but a little more than halfway there. I noticed that it did stain but just a little. Then I smelled it and eww I did not like. I think I can tolerate most cosmetic fragrance but this one was a no go for me. It's hard to describe. It smells a bit like hairspray/hair gel.
Then when I put it on my lips that's when all my excitement went out the door. The color was patchy and the formula was thick. Now, I don't mind thick glosses. I have my share but this one is something else and does not feel right. It was gooey and sticky. Just very uncomfortable. When I press my lips together, I can feel and see the goo pulling apart as I open my lips. That was it for me.
I could not stand the way it feels on my lips. It's just gross. I took it off immediately after I got the picture. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I am officially turned off by this new Wet N Wild lipgloss line. It was somewhere around $3.00. Pretty affordable if you dare to give it a try. I don't know if the formula is the same with the other shades but I am not tempted to try the rest.
Have you tried it? Do you like this more than I do?
Anyways, I wanted to end this post on a good note by sharing a picture of the glorious sunset I was fortunate to witness last Saturday. This picture was taken outside of my daughter's high school with my phone camera.
They taste and smell pretty much exactly like window cleaner. Mine went straight back to the store. I've heard several people say theirs were broken as well.
ReplyDeleteLol yes window cleaner exactly! OK so I'm not crazy. Glad I'm not the only one who isn't impressed
DeleteGross! This sounds similar to my experience with their MegaLast liquid lippies that came out last year. The smell, the texture, everything was so gross. :( But on a better note, what a beautiful sunset!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried those. Thank goodness!
Deleteoh. my. gosh. I was so excited to try these, but I think I'll steer clear and save my money. Thanks for the review girl!
ReplyDeleteI Googled other's reviews after the fact and it seems there are some who really liked them so I don't know if there is a discrepancy in the formula or what. I just know mine did not feel or smell good
DeleteBeautiful color! i was really surprised by how pink it is, I really thought I'd be full on purple but much prefer it as a hot pink!
ReplyDeleteIt's a gorgeous color. It's a a shame the formula wasn't good.
