OPI Comet In The Sky and Snowglobetrotter

Well hello there! I didn't realized I've been gone this long already. I have been really busy with work and working on some decorative, semi-crafty holiday projects. I just can't go crafty all the way. I'm not that hardcore and I don't have that much patience but I probably would give it a try if it is worth the time. I am almost done with my holiday projects. Definitely will have to share some pictures with you cause I'm quite pleased with the stuff I managed to I put together. I haven't done holiday decorating in a few years so I kind of went a little crazy. Thank goodness many of the supplies I picked up where on sale but still...I probably could've gotten myself some extra Christmas presents with the amount I spent.

Anyhoo...It's getting late and I probably should get some sleep soon so with no further ado, here are the swatches of a couple new OPI polishes that just released. I got these from Ulta.

Comet in the Sky looks just mesmerizing in the bottle but the sad thing is that it doesn't look as vibrant on the nail. I had to fish a bit for the iridescent galaxy colored glitters. It also has some matte black glitters in it. Frankly, I would've preferred that they didn't include the black glitters. They just get in the way. On the swatches, I have it layered over L'Oreal Berry Nice and used a clear top coat. I probably should've used a toothpick or something to position the glitters where I want them. They look messy on the swatches.

Snowglobetrotter has different size glitters from white to iridescent blueish green glitter in a clear base, which I found a little thick but still easy to work with and picks up a pretty good amount of glitters. I have it layered over Sparitual Undercurrent and topped with a clear top coat. I probably should've layered it over a red nail polish but it still looks wintry and fun.

Collective Haul...A little bit of everything

Here's a random haul from a few different stores with items I picked up within the past couple of weeks.

I'm so glad that we now have a Nordstrom Rack in town and I finally got a chance to check it out. I was in a bit of a hurry at the time so I only got to check out the beauty section. I picked up this Essie Nail polish in the shade Sable Collar and Urban Decay nail polish in addiction.

From Sally Beauty Supply:

  • Out the Door top coat ($4.99)
  • China Glaze Loco-Motive ($3.29). Found this at the clearance section.
  • Orly Mirrorball ($6.79). I found this at another Sally store. It is part of their 2014 holiday collection.
  • Orly nail lacquer remover (free with purchase of an Orly nail polish)
  • A twizzer ($0.99)

From Ulta:
  • Essence All About Sunrise Eyeshadow palette ($4.99). I was intrigued by this new palette from Essence. Just thought I had to try it.
  • Essence Effect Nail Polish Glitz & Glam ($2.99). Another cute glittery shimmery nail polish for me to play with.
  • OPI Comet in the Sky (2 for $16.00). This is from their new Holiday collection with Gwen Stefani.
  • OPI Snowglobetrotter

Burlington Coat Factory Haul:

  • Ciate Tree Trinket set ($14.99). How cute is this set?!! Each of these mini glitter polishes come inside a clear ornament. Perfect for stocking stuffers.
  • Tres Chic Collection Bag Hanger ($6.99). I thought it was so pretty and figure I should get one to give away as gift and keep another one for my greedy self, lol.
  • Tres Chic Collection Bling Pen ($6.99). This was the last one that they had on display. I was pretty disappointed cause I wanted one for myself too.
  • ELF crystal eyeshadow brush ($1.99). It's super cute and so affordable. It's dense and just the right size for eyeshadow application.

Rue 21 haul:
  • 2 Rolls of Nail Foil ($3.99)
  • 3 Pack Nail Art Wheel ($6.99)
  • Pink Ice Multi (2 for $5.00)
  • Pink Ice Multi Dark

Alright...that's it for now. Will have more to show once I receive my Black Friday goodies.

OPI Green On The Runway & Wonderous Star

Here are my latest OPI nail lacquer pick ups. I got Green on the Runway from Ulta. It is part of their Coca-Cola collection, which released not long ago. It was the only one from the collection that I found interesting and unique. It sure doesn't disappoint when you see it in person. It's dark green but with some glowy green shimmers and it also has a reddish-brown duochrome to it.
Formula was easy to work with. It's a little sheer but 3 coats is enough for opacity.

I picked up Wonderous Star at TJ Maxx. I have not seen any glitter like it so when that happens if I like it, I would normally get it. It has pale goldenish glitters with small black glitters in a clear base. The glitters are fairly dense and you could probably use it alone with 2 or 3 coats but on the swatches below, I have one layer on top of Essie Glamour Purse, a medium cream taupe...Crap I just realized I've never swatched it on my blog! After swatching it I decided to wear it for the week. Love the sparklies!

TJ Maxx Haul and Nail Polish Swatches - OPI, Butter London, and Julep

I was at TJ Maxx last week and they had quite a selection of nail polishes from brands like Essie, OPI, Orly, Nicole by OPI, Sephora, and a few Ciate, Butter London, and Julep. I love finding these treasures at TJ because they are typically half off the original price.

The only non-nail polish product I got from this haul is the Macadamia healing Oil Spray for hair. Love the packaging. This is $16.99 as opposed to $29.50 retail price. Ching Ching! Gotta love the savings!

This set of OPI costed me $7.99. They usually retail about $9.00 each.

OPI Baring It All is a light cool toned flesh nude with a cream finish. I have 3 coats on the swatches. The formula is not too thick or thin and is a bit streaky at first but levels well and looks even on the 3rd coat. It's very plain jane for me and needs either glitter or some sort of design to oomph it up.

OPI Frog In My Throat looks beautiful in the bottle. It's got a dark jelly base with goldish green shimmers, small holographic glitters, and orange flakies. It's so much prettier in person but I gotta admit that the shimmers are understated once the polish dries. The formula is thin but easy to work with and can be built up to an opaque coverage in 3 coats.

Julep Paris has a clear base and a mix of gold and silver holographic glitters with smaller holographic glitters. Here I'm wearing one coat over OPI Bare It All. Told yall it looks better with glitters. The base is not too thin or thick, picks up a decent amount of glitters and you only have to pat them a bit to get them where you need them. The bottle is so little, only .27 oz, about half the size of a typical nail polish bottle. Even paying $5.00 for it doesn't feel right.

Butter London Swinger...haha, the name makes me laugh because I'm definitely a swinger when it comes to nail polishes. I'm greedy and I gotta have all them preciouses. Swinger has a lightly green tinted base with very tiny gold and green glitters and small green glitters. It's rather sheer but applies fairly evenly and you can get opaque coverage in 3 coats.
