Honey By Marc Jacobs Perfume Review and ScentBird Perfume Subscription

I was contacted a few weeks ago by ScentBird asking me if I would review and feature their product on my blog. I was intrigued by the company so I accepted the offer.
ScentBird is a subscription service, similar to Birchbox, that offers designer perfumes samples. They have over 350 different designer perfumes to choose from and the perfumes that are sent to you are tailored to your preference. You get to pick what you want! When joining, you will be asked to fill out a questionnaire, and based on your answers, they will determine the perfumes that best matches your tastes.

For $14.95 a month, you will receive a travel size sample that comes with a purse friendly atomizer containing .27 oz / 8 ml of perfume. The roller ball is .33 oz and retails for $24.00. Personally, I prefer using a spray. Quite honestly, I think for the price, this is a pretty good deal because you get a generous amount to try out and decide for yourself if you like the scent or not before splurging on the full size.

I also think that this subscription is also ideal for those who love to try out different fragrances without having to break the bank. What do you think? I have to admit that I am very picky with the fragrance that I wear so I'm not so sure if this is for me but I think some of you will find this offer appealing.

The package came in this black envelop with bubble wrap for protection.

Included was a card with instructions on how to use the atomizer.

They also sent me a gift card for Le Tote, which I have never heard of until now but sounds like another subscription service for garments and accessories.

The atomizer was enclosed in this small fabric bag. Overall, the packaging is plain and simple. You just twist the atomizer to release the pump and spray to your heart's content. The atomizer does a pretty good job at emitting a fine mist of scented goodness and it's made of pretty sturdy plastic. Keep it at home or keep it in your purse to refresh your scent. There's no label on the atomizer itself to indicate the fragrance inside; however the glass tube is labeled.

I picked Honey by Marc Jacobs. It smells sassy and lively, fresh, warm, and flowery! Probably not my all time favorite but I do like it and will definitely use up the bottle at some point.

Notes: Pear, Juicy Mandarin, Orange Blossom, Peach Nectar, Apricot, Honeysuckle, Honey, Golden Vanilla, Smooth Woods.

I'm not really good at describing scents but to me this is a casual scent, something you can wear on the daily to the office, to run errands, to have lunch with your friends, etc...
The floral notes dominates the scents and the fruity notes adds a bubbly twist of freshness to the floral. The scent of honey and vanilla are the most subtle. The actual full size bottle is meh to me. It's cute but a bit juvenile, in my opinion. I think this scent will appeal more to young adults. It last a pretty long time on me (up to 7 hours) and I like the fact that it's not too overpowering either.

Have you tried or smelled Honey? Do you like it?

Haul - I went back to Sephora AGAIN!

Ok I had a very good reason for this trip to Sephora. I received my $20.00 Sephora Reward card and I received a $50.00 Sephora gift card for participating with my insurance Health Risk Assessment program. So more beautiful things for myself. I'm stoked!

First and foremost, the main thing I wanted was The One (eau de parfum) by Dolce & Gabbana. I love the way it smells. It's a warm floral oriental scent. The fragrance is quite potent and last all day. It smells a bit powdery. It has a hint of sweetness and fruity notes. It's perfect for casual days.
When I smell this scent, I think of romantic, feminine, warm.

Notes:
Bergamot, Mandarin, Lychee, Peach, Madonna Lily, Muguet, Plum, Jasmine, Vetiver, Vanilla, Amber, Musk.

The packaging is simple and elegant but I don't really like the way it feels on my hand. It's wide and hard to get a good grip so not so easy to hold and spray with just one hand. This is a 1.6 oz bottle.

It also comes with a shimmery gold powder. Really cute packaging. It even includes a tiny sponge applicator.

The set also include a scented body lotion. It's weird how getting the set with 3 products cost the same as if you got the perfume alone so it's like getting freebies with the set. This 3 piece perfume set cost $82.00 and is exclusive to Sephora.

I've been wanting to try another cleansing oil but something more budget friendly. This Sephora Supreme Cleansing Oil fit the bill. 6.4 oz for $15.00. Not too bad.

Sephora + Pantone Velvet Lipstick in Earth Red. Got it on sale for $12.00. It's sold out online but you may still be able to find it in store. It's very pigmentated, feels nice, and semi-matte. The color is just fabulous! Here's a quick swatch for ya....

Hourglass Opaque Rouge Icon mini, $10.00. I first heard about this lippie on Jemimah's Blog. Check out her swatch and review HERE if you're curious. The color is beautiful and I'm so glad that they had a mini version because the full size is $28.00 so I'm happy I can try a small version of it first. It's VERY small but I don't think I will ever use up half of the full size anyways so this will do. I will work on a review soon.

I redeemed 100 points for the Cover FX Mattifying Primer. Didn't see anything else interesting.

Lastly, they gave me some perfume samples. I love getting perfume samples but these two don't really interest me.

I got more hauls to show but I've been lazy editing my pictures. Did you receive your Sephora reward card? What will you or what did you get?

Sephora Haul - Yes Yes Yes, Just Take My Money!

It has been a long time since I stepped into Sephora and wow there was lots of new stuff like the new Marc Jacobs beauty line, Deborah Lippmann, new holiday sets, and the new Sephora Formula X. Let's just say, I could not hold my excitement when I saw all the sparkling nail polishes before me. Holycow, yall need to see their new Formula X nail polish line in store now if you haven't already. It is a massive new collection. I wanted to dump half of them in my basket. Must check it out.

I purchased the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush palette ($42) and I'm stoked! It's not even Christmas yet and I'm already spoiling myself. The packaging is gorgeous and it comes with a cuff bracelet with a gold accent bow. I don't care for the bracelet and quite frankly, I would have preferred that they glued it on the palette. I find it to be too bulky the material feels stiff and it would have just looked better on the palette.

I bought the Tarte stop and stare 6 pc eyeliner and lash set ($39). It comes with 3 eyeliners, 2 eyeshadow pencils, and a mascara. The colors are beautiful! I purchased this as a birthday gift for my friend. I'm dying to get a set for myself as well but I guess that'll be for another day.

The new Sephora 12 Hr Eye Pencils ($9) have been under my radar for some time now and I initially picked up 4 shades in my basket but when I was ready to check out, I was way over my budget already so I only kept one...the one my daughter wanted to keep, ugh!

Hello, just bite me already! I have been drooling over this Bite Beauty Best Bite set ever since I saw it on Sephora's website. This set of 4 lip pencils is priced at only $25.00. What a bargain!

And lastly, 2 new Formula X nail polishes. Priced at $12.50 each, at this point I can only afford 2 at a time without breaking the bank :( but I will be back for more!

And lastly, I redeemed 250 points for a mini Flower Bomb perfume. Another pick from my daughter. So that is it for me. No more Sephora shopping until they have the VIB sale and I need to revisit my wishlist.

When was the last time you went to Sephora? Did you pick up anything or will you add any of these to your wishlist?

Latest TJ Haul

Is it Friday yet? I can't wait for the long week-end and school starts next week for the kids.

I stopped by TJ Maxx the other day. I needed to return something and along the way, I also took the opportunity to look around for stuff.

A couple weeks ago, I had received a deluxe sample of Yellow Diamond and loved it so I think it was fate that I stumbled upon it again. This huge 3 oz eau de toilette bottle is more than a handful and looks bright and cheerful on my so-called vanity. I got it for $59.99, intact and still wrapped in manufacturing packaging. It usually retails for $89.00.

It has a sparkling fresh scent. It smells flowery, citrusy, and lightly woodsy. I can't figure for the life of me why they don't have an eau de parfum version of it. My only complaint is that the scent fades after a couple hours so I would need to keep a back up spray in my purse for touch up. That might be a good thing for people who don't want a strong scent but I want an all day affair when it comes to fragrance and makeup. I was just at The Burlington Coat Factory yesterday and also spotted another one of these Yellow Diamond. So with that said, if Yellow Diamond sounds like something you might like, you may be able to find good deal on it at the stores I mentioned.

Right Amount of Evil and Spazmatic

Nail polish, nail polish, and more nail polish...Yeah I know. I buy nail polish like I buy water. TJ sells a duo like these for $6.99. So I'm going to shamelessly admit that I tampered with the nail polishes. I'm bad but I didn't like the pair it originally came with so I switched one nail polish for another. I don't think they really care anyways. Half of their makeup is pretty much destroyed or gone bad, no one is buying, yet it is still sitting on the shelf for sale.

And lastly, I grabbed a pair of nude flats with gold studs. Super duper cute! They fit nicely but my stupid ankles are still swelling so the straps feel a little tight around the ankles. Well I couldn't pass this up for $19.99.

Recent Sephora Purchase

Happy Friday everyone!

I have this pounding headache that is begging me to get some rest but I've received this order two days ago already and wanted to get this post up before I go lie down. I'm also exhausted from work and will have to work on Sunday as well. Boo! Other than that, I do have some exciting things to show you....

I've been seeing a few nice things on Sephora's sale section. I got the Philosophy Christmas Cookie shower gel for $14.00. I can't believe I was actually running low on body wash and needed to restock. These Philosophy shower gel last me months and they smell freaking delicious! I think the last one I used up last me at least 3 months. It smells just like a sugar cookie, sweet and yummy.

Next up is the Sephora + Pantone Universe Elemental Molten Liquid Liners, on sale for $10.00. This was the main reason for my haul. You know how much I love my eyeliners and for the price this is a pretty good deal. They are the exact same size as the Glitter Strobe Set and come with a thin brush applicator. The emerald green eyeliner in this set is pretty much the exact same one as one metallic liner from the Glitter Strobe.

From left to right:
1. A shimmery dark blue with sparkling blue, purple, and teal shimmers. It's not fully opaque in one pass but it's not too bad.
2. Metallic shimmery emerald green. This one stains but it's gorgeous.
3. A medium grey lavender with a very subtle pink/green shimmer. It looks a little bit duochrome in the tube but on the swatch you see more of the pink shimmer. Very unusual liner color and I love it for that reason.
4. very dark brown with a matte finish.

I'm very sad to announce that this set is sold out by the time I received it so you will not be able to order it from Sephora; however, it is available on Ebay for less than $20.00.

Another item from the sale section is the Urban Decay Glide On 24-7 liner in the shade Covet, $9.50. They still have 10 other shades that are on sale so this is your chance to get them for half price. Covet is a dark shimmery green with a bit of teal to it. As always these UD liners are smooth, creamy, pigmented, and last fairly well.

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer, $18.00. I got the smaller bottle, which is .33 oz. This one was not on sale but I wanted to try it cause I read so many good reviews. So far I have not found any face primer that I was impressed with so I am crossing my fingers that this one is THE ONE.

I used a promo code to get this free deluxe sample size fragrance. This is Gucci Flora Glamorous Magnolia. It smells really nice. I like it. Don't know for sure if I love it yet but it's the kind of scent I typically go for. It has a fresh floral scent and just a bit of sweetness to it. I like it most when it's just been applied. Once the scent dissipate, I can smell more of the sandalwood and musk, which I'm not too crazy about. It's one of those scents that is perfect for any occasion.

Notes:Freesia, Green Leaves, Citrus Zest, Peony, Magnolia, Musk, Sandalwood, Warm Chocolate Accord.

And lastly the free samples:

  • Fresh Rose Face Mask
  • Alterna Bamboo Anti-Frizz shampoo, conditioner, and treatment oil
  • Cover FX foundation
  • Amazing Cosmetics Velvet Mineral Liquid foundation

I'm seeing some new added items into the Sephora sales section and I am itching to make another purchase...let's see if I can help myself.

Tried any of these products? Tell me what you think...Oh and have a wonderful weekend as well! :)
