Cover Girl Emerald Blaze Nail Polish & Comparison With OPI Green On The Runway

Cover Girl Emerald Blaze is a name that I find fitting for this nail color. It has this beautiful metallic sheen to it and is slightly duochrome. As you can see, certain area have darker, cooler tone, olive green color to it, giving this polish more dimension.

I picked this up at Walgreens about a month ago because I thought it looked pretty but I didn't realize until I got home that I may already have a dupe for it.

So the dupe that I'm talking about is OPI Green On The Runway. As you can see, they look pretty identical. I couldn't tear them apart when I have them swatched next to each other.
There is however a difference in the formula. The OPI formula is thinner and easier to apply and you'd need 3 coats for opacity. The Cover Girl one is thicker and you'll have to be more careful how you apply it because it may create bald spot in some area. It's workable and two coats is enough to reach opacity.
I still prefer the smoother and thinner formula of OPI as it is easier to work with but Cover Girl Emerald Blaze is definitely a good dupe if you want something similar but cheaper.

Collective Haul and Swatches (Pic Heavy)

WHHHHEWIE! I'm sowie for being away but while I was away from me blog I was also busy shopping. It's been crazy in my world and needed some serious retail therapy. So here's what I've collected from the past few days.

These new NYX Prismatic eyeshadows are now available at Ulta for $6 a pot. So far, my first impression is wow, these are so pigmented and swatch beautifully! They feel so creamy! Need...to...get...more! It's currently on BOGO sale at Ulta right now.

Cover Girl Colorlicious Lipgloss Swatch and Review - Pinkalicious and Plumilicious

How sad that my long weekend is already coming to an end and I didn't get to see Godzilla cause I ended up taking a nap yesterday, lol. I'll be back at the farm tomorrow and I haven't really got much time to work on reviews. Hopefully, I won't be stalling too much but I already know I'm gonna work till I drop once I get back. Thankfully, I have this review ready for you. I spotted these new Cover Girl lipglosses a few weeks ago while I was browsing at Walgreens and impulsively purchased them.

Packaging

  • Clear tube with silver cap and doe foot applicator
  • .12 oz or 3.8 ml

Product

  • Pinkalicious is magenta/fuchsia shade with subtle pink and purple shimmers.
  • Plumilicious is a cool toned medium light pink.
  • I was hoping that these new lip glosses be more opaque but they only offer sheer to medium coverage.
  • They have a very slick/oily texture to them. So with that said, they are thin, light-weight, and non-sticky. The problem I ran into is that it makes the color application a bit uneven but it's not that noticeable.
  • I didn't find them moisturizing or drying and they only last up to 2 hours at the most.
  • They have a very sweet and strong playdoh scent to them, which I dislike and find overpowering.

Final Thought

New product and new packaging definitely got my attention at first but overall I was rather disappointed. There are definitely way better lip gloss out there. If sheer medium color, thin and slick texture, is your cup of tea then you might want to check these out. Beware of the scent though. If you are sensitive to strong playdoh scents, you should probably just keep walking.

Rating: 7/10

Price: About $7.00
Availability: Walgreens

CoverGirl Hunger Games Catching Fire Glosstinis Nail Polishes

I spotted these new nail polishes at CVS the other day. They are from the Hunger Game Catching Fire collection and there was several other colors as well. I wasn't interested all of them but I snatched the ones I liked the most and here they are now :)

My nails are still short, especially the index but I must swatch these for you ASAP so please bear with my uneven nails, lol.

Violet Flicker is medium dark purple with sparkling blue and pink shimmers.

Scalding Emerald is a medium sage green with sparkling teal and gold shimmers.

Seared Bronzed is a medium warm bronze with sparkling green, gold, and red shimmers.

The formula was pretty consistent between the three shades. It's not too thin or thick but pigmentation is on the sheer. On their own you'd need 3 coats in order to get opaque coverage. The brush is medium size and round. I wished it was a little more flat. I think it would have made application easier. Application is patchy, especially on the first coat but if you pick up enough polish on  your brush, it should be easier to spread it out more evenly. Drying is slow but a fast dry top coat should speed that up.

Aren't they beautiful? All those pretty mix of shimmers go so perfectly together. Have you spotted this collection?

CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Polish Swatch - Midnight Magic and Timeless Rubies

I got around to do some swatches today. I wished my nails were a bit longer but that will do for now. I purchased these two polishes at K-Mart. I don't recall seeing these shades in other stores.

Midnight Magic is a shimmery metallic foil with an interesting mix of colors. It's dark grey with blue and green shimmers. At certain angles, I noticed some purple duochrome. I was able to get opaque coverage in just two coats. The formula wasn't too thin or thick. Application wasn't too bad. It's not as smooth as I would like but it wasn't too difficult to work with. I really dislike the chunky scared cap. A smaller and round cap is fits better in my hand and is easier to handle.

Midnight Magic reminded me of Zoya Feifei so I decided to swatch them side by side to see how they compare. Midnight Magic has a bit more of a purple duochrome. Though both make a pretty good dupe, Midnight Magic has a more textured look. Feifei looks very smooth. I like Midnight Magic for the duo-chrome but prefer the formula and smoothness of Feifei better.

Timeless Rubies is another interesting shade. Formula is the same as Midnight Magic and I was able to get opacity in two coats. This one also has some duochrome magic to it. It's a reddish burgundy color with some pink and bronze shimmers.

Overall, I'm quite happy with these two CoverGirl nail polishes. The formula isn't the best but it was doable and the colors are interesting enough to make them stand out from the rest of the shades they have available.

What do you think of these colors? Are they something you'd wear?

Haul & Swatches - Maybelline Limited Edition Color Tattoo Summer 2013, Bongo, CoverGirl Nail Polishes

Yeahhh baby! I'm back in business! By that I mean, I've been typing away stuff for my blog, working on my reviews, limping instead of crawling, eating tastier junk food...I'm slowly starting to feel like my normal self again...Finally! The light at the end of the tunnel is coming through!

I've been seeing people post about these new limited edition Color Tattoos a few weeks ago and I was afraid that by the time I'm able to get around, they'll be all gone. I tried my luck at K-Mart and lo and behold there they were...fully stocked! Yipee Yay! That's what I said. If you're trying to hunt these down with no luck, I would suggest try K-Mart. Seems like not too many people shop there for makeup.

The three shades that I got are Seashore Frosts, Waives of White, and Cool Crush. I'll do a more in depth review and show you additional swatches once I  have tested these (hopefully soon, before they're gone). Spoiler alert: I wish I didn't pick up Cool Crush but it looked so pretty in the pot. The color is rather flat once I swatched it on my skin. Boo!

These new Color Tattoos are lot creamier than the original formula. I'm already dreading to find out if they are going to crease on me as I am prone to creasing with certain products.

Of course, I picked up more nail polishes as if I needed another hole in my head. I saw a display that say "new" so I slowly approached to see if anything speaks to me. My eyes went straight to this polish, Bongo Sweet Cheeks. I knew it was sheer but I had a hunch this was going to make a fantastic layering polish. It seems to have some duochrome shimmer quality to it. I got it for $3.99 so it's pretty cheap.

I haven't been particularly attracted by the new CoverGirl nail polishes but I stumbled upon these two gorgeous shades that I haven't noticed before. Plus they were on BOGO sale. I picked up Midnight Magic and Timeless Rubies. Midnight Magic reminds me of Zoya FeiFei, but darker and sparklier. Timeless Rubies look a bit similar to OPI Sprung but looks a bit more red.

The bad news is I broke a nail so these babies will have to wait 2-3 weeks until my nails are swatch worthy again before I post pictures. Fear not, I swatched them on a nail wheel for you so you get an idea of what they're like. The good news is I was able to swatch other polishes before my nail snapped.

Currently, there isn't anything else I'm particularly looking for...Whew...Hopefully, it stays that way for a while so I can give my wallet a break and focus more on my reviews.

Are you looking out for the new LE Color Tattoos or will you pass? If you're only getting one thing for the collection, I would say Seashore Frosts is a winner. It's got the best duochrome shift from what I can see and from other reviews I've read as well.

Swatches - CoverGirl BlastFlipstick Flashy

This is another one of those products I picked a long time ago and completely forgot about it. I believe this was close to $9.00, which I think is pretty expensive for a CoverGirl product. I got it during a sale so it ended up being a little less for me.

In terms of packaging. I think it is just ok. My main complaint would be that the lipsticks cannot twist all the way down so you can possibly nip the product when removing or putting back the cap.

You could use these together to create a duo-tone lip color or you can use them on their own if you like.

One side is a reddish purple with some blue shimmers. This one reminded me of MAC Violetta but I think it is a bit more red. It is very pigmented and opaque. It also has a frosty finish. I like the color of it and how it looks on me but I hated the way it stained my lips. When you remove this color. You are left with a neon pink stain for the next 24 hours. Hmm, I've had the same issues with this type of shade from Cover Girl.

The other shade is a medium pink with blue undertone and frosty finish. Although still pigmented, the intensity of the color is more toned down. It's got some pink and purple glitters in it that I can feel when I apply this lipstick. Not really liking the texture of this lipstick but it does apply fairly evenly. There is a bit of staining but it isn't as bad as the other color.

I have not tested these for wear but based on my swatches, I feel that these seem like they would wear for at least 3 hours and then you are left with the stains. I like that they have just the right amount of slip and creaminess to them upon application but I doubt that these will be moisturizing. They have a sweet cosmetic scent to it that I don't really like but I think I can deal with it.

I think these are just ok lipsticks. Nothing to write home about. They have more toned down colors if you feel that these shades are not your cup of tea.

Have you tried these? If yes, what did you think of them?
