Icing Radio Superstar Swatch

This is one of the cutest nail combo I've done lately. For the base, I am wearing Sephora by OPI Sin-cerely Violet, 2 coats, and 2 coats of Radio Superstar. The clear base is not too thick or thin but I did have to fish for those cutesy holographic silver stars. As you can tell from the picture, this polish also contains some fuchsia glitters and small blue glitters.

The end result looks fun, girly, and pretty cute.

Icing Hey Sailor Boy Vs Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe

Hello Beauties,

Here I introduce you Icing Hey Sailor Boy on the left as a possible dupe to one of the most coveted polish, Deborah Lippman Across the Universe on the right.

How close do they compare? Let's check it out...

On the first coat, you can immediately notice that Hey Sailor Boy has a more pigmented jelly base, whereas Across the Universe looks sheer, patchy, and streaky.

Hey Sailor Boy looks done with 2 coats. Whereas Across the Universe still looks patchy on the second.

Across the Universe need at least 3 coats in order to look opaque. Hey Sailor Boy only needs two.

The difference is that the jelly base for Hey Sailor Boy looks bluer and because it more saturated than Across the Universe, I feel that it kinda mutes the glitters underneath it. Hey Sailor boy has less larger glitter but more smaller glitters. Across the Universe is the other way around, more larger glitters and less small glitters. The jelly base on Across the Universe is a much darker blue but because it is sheerer, it allows the glitters to really shine through.

Personally, I still prefer Across the Universe because the glitters look more vibrant and eye-catching. Hey Sailor Boy is still a good cheaper alternative if you can't justify the price of Across the Universe. $4.50 versus $19.00. They are definitely not spot on dupes and there is a huge difference in price, but a small difference in the swatches.

Regardless of the price, which one do you think actually looks prettier?

ICING Kiss & Makeup Set Swatches

What a drag it has been for me....

This is a 5 piece mini set of cutesy polishes I picked up from Icing for $12.50. I think they came out just in time for Valentine.

These don't come with name so I guess I'll refer them as numbers...From left to right:

1. Sheer pink jelly with small holographic glitters and red heart glitters. Swatched on thumb, 2 coats. This one applied very streaky, sheer, and patchy. Probably should use a different color as base.
2. Light pink jelly with small holographic glitters and red and pink heart glitters. Swatched on index finger, 2 coats. I think this one will look nice over a french mani.
3. Sheer pink jelly with small holographic glitters and red and pink heart glitters. Swatched on middle finger, 2 coats. Doesn't look too bad on its own but maybe better with another polish.
4. Jelly creme medium pink with holographic shard flakies, red squared glitters, small silver glitters, and heart glitters. Swatched on the ring finger, 2 coats. This one had a bit too much going on in the bottle, which didn't really look appealing to me.
5. Shimmery bright cherry red. Swatched on pinky finger, 2 coats. This one applied very nicely. 

My favorite out of the bunch are #2, #3, and #5. The hearts are definitely difficult to get by yet so cute!

Haul - A Little Here and There

Last week, after grabbing the Pandora's Charm, I wandered off to Icing. I had seen this polish before but refrained from getting it but I really wanted the rhinestone wheel, which was only $4.50. And since cosmetics are always BOGO 50% off, I only paid $2.25 for the nail polish so I decided to pick it up this time. 

Are you thinking what I'm thinking? You bet I will be doing a swatch comparison of Hey Sailor Boy to see if we have a dupe going on here. 

This little wheel has some cute stuff in it. Ok going clockwise:

I stopped by Sally Beauty the other day to grab some goodies for my friend who's been complaining that her nails aren't as pretty as mine. I didn't take a picture of what I got for her but I bought her a cuticle softener and remover and some wood sticks. I gave her some tips on how to care for her nails and a little sample of the Dior Abricot Nail Cream. She was ecstatic when I gave her the goodie bag.

For myself, I purchased a nail whitening paste. I thought this product was interesting and never caught my eyes before I've always wondered about how to removed those ugly nail stains. It was about $4.00. I hope it works.

I also picked up two China glitter polish from the Bitz'n'Pieces collection while I was at Sally Beauty. Bling It On on the left and Scattered & Tattered on the right.

Stopped by TJ Maxx the other day and grabbed Orly Galaxy Girl. I couldn't remember if I had this color but I don't. Glad I was able to get it for only $3.99.

I went to Wal-Mart yesterday in hopes to find the Flower Cosmetics but no luck, my Wal-Mart does not have it out so I guess I'll have to check back later. Instead, I picked up these new Rimmel Scandaleyes Khol Kajal Eye Pencils. They were around $4.00, which is pretty cheap. I'm usually drawn to eyeliners that claim to be waterproof, smudgeproof, and creamy. Let's see if these live up to their claims. I purchased the shade Nude and Taupe.

And just when I thought I was going to wrap up this post, I managed to grab two more polishes today. These are from Rue 21 and they don't come with names. I really like the green one. $5 for two or $3.99 individually.

Haul - H&M Cosmetics, Icing, and MAC

Hello,

It's me again with another haul. I went to the mall yesterday cause my son needed to get a birthday present for his girl-friend. I took the opportunity to snag a few beauty item before coming home.

So first, I picked up 3 makeup piece from H&M. I don't know how long they've been selling makeup but I just saw that my local store recently started selling them. I tried to narrow down to things I probably would use so I settled with a lipstick, cream eyeshadow, and a nail polish. They were around $5-6 a piece, which is pretty reasonable. Have any of you tried their eyeshadows or any of their cosmetics? If yes, what are your thoughts?

Icing's cosmetics are always BOGO 50% off so when I saw that mini set of "valentine" nail polishes, I couldn't resist. It doesn't really have a name but I just refer to it as valentine since they are pink or red with pink and red heart glitters. For my discounted item, I picked of course another glitter. This one has blue and pink glitters as well as holographic star glitters. Looked so pretty and fun.

MAC has some new brow product collection. Hmm, I don't know if it is limited edition but I don't see why it wouldn't be permanent. I only got the brow pencil. Will do a swatch and review soon.

So that's it for this haul. I just received my so called free Zoya polishes today from that promo they just had. I will show you what I got either tomorrow or this weekend.

Icing Super Freak Swatches

So not long ago, I picked up this Super Freak at Icing. I was drawn to the jumbo fuchsia glitters, colorful bar glitters and blue glitters. This is like the freakier sister of Seche Vite Collage Overlay, lol, if you saw the swatches.

The clear base is rather thick so it's easier to get the glitters but the trade off is that it makes it a bit finicky to apply. Definitely doable though. Nail lacquer thinner also helps a lot when you have to deal with thick goopy polishes like this one. I have it layered over OPI Panda-Monium Pink. This is like a party on my nails, lol.

So what do you think? Would you get freaky with this polish glitter? lol.

Icing So Fierce Swatches

Hello Ladies and Gents,

I haven't really been around much mainly cause work has been pretty draining lately. I want to apologize in advance if it takes me longer to reply. All I have sitting in my "to be posted" are just a few nail polish swatches. I'm working on 2 projects for my blog and I'm really hoping to post them tomorrow so that I'm not constantly spamming you with nail swatches, lol.

Ahh Woudn't you agree that this polish is so gorgeous!? I picked this up on the clearance section of Icing's store and I was a little worried at first because the color looks so thick in the bottle. I still decided to take a chance and bought it. This is a fuchsia jelly base packed with gold/orange, blue, green, and purple glitters.
The formula was very thick and uneven. It didn't feel like nail polish. It felt like jello, lol. It's quite opaque in two coats so you do get a chance to even out the application on the second coat. It won't be perfect but close enough. I'm really loving it in spite of the not so great formula and application. I think it was worth the effort.

ICING Pampered & Primped Swatches

I am so tired right now and I think I'm going to hit the sack early tonight since I haven't got proper sleep lately. I wanted to post one or two post before passing out.

What I love about flakies is that they make your nail look like opals with their color shifting iridescent quality. It's like wearing a semi-precious stone on your nails. I purchased Pampered & Primped at Icing for just a few bucks. It is a sheer raspberry jelly polish with flakies shifting from gold to blue and purple. Just mesmerizing when I look at the bottle.

Beside glitters, I also love flakies but not all flakies are the same unfortunately and the flakies on this polish don't wanna lay flat, well most of them will lay flat but some with stick out, which is pretty annoying.
The base is a lot sheerer than I would prefer and the formula is thick and goopy, which makes this polish hard to get an even application. I definitely will need to put a few drops of nail thinner in there.
I have 3 coats on the swatches and I'm not really happy about how it looks on its own but I think might be able to make this work over another polish.

Icing Vampire's Kiss Swatches

Yes, Halloween is over and it would have been perfect for the occasion to sport Vampire's Kiss. I find that the name suits it well. This dark jelly base color has a vampy dark side to it and the red glitters looks like blood splatter, lol. What a nice way to describe it eh?
I guess this probably wouldn't be something I'd wear on my nails on a typical day but other than Halloween, perhaps on days I'm feeling dark and gloomy enough to reach for it.
The formula was a bit on the thick side but you can get opaque coverage within 2 coats and the drying time is average.
If you've never purchased nail polishes from Icing, know that they are always on sale for BOGO 50% so you are actually getting a pretty good deal. I think they have a nice selection of colors and glitters to choose from.

Icing Twisted Fantasy Swatch

Hello beautifuls,

I had to work for a few hours today but I was able to spare some time to do nail polish swatches this afternoon before the sun goes down. One of the first polish I wanted to try was Twisted Fantasy, which I picked up from Icing last weekend.

Ahhh, isn't this gorgeous or what? I really didn't want to take it off but had to since I have a line up of polishes to swatch. So stay tuned for some nail polish spams.

As you can see the base is a jelly teal blue color and inside we have a variety of colored glitters, all the same size. I have 3 coats on the swatches. The application was a bit tricky since the glitters were kinda sparse so I had to fish for them and move them around on my nail. That's basically what I had to do with the first two coats. The third coat was to even out the application and add a bit more opacity; however, you can still see some visible nail line after 3 coats. For this polish, the VNL doesn't really bother me but if that's something you don't like, you can certainly use a more opaque color as a base.

The nice thing is that your effort eventually pays off because I think it looks super cute. This polish retails for $4.50 but they are always BOGO 50% at Icing so these are very inexpensive polishes. They have a decent selection and I always find something I like.
