Rimmel Show Off Lip Velvet Matte Atomic Rose - Swatch and Review

Sorry for the hiatus. I've been busy these past few days...taking care of business, running around car shopping and I finally got a new car. Ok so it's not that new but it was necessary since my son needed to drive himself to school. He will be on his own tomorrow. I worry just thinking about the route he has to take. Lawd have mercy and please watch over him. Now that I have that out of the way, all I need is to shop for cheaper car insurance.

Anyways, I am so behind on reviews and I have this haul that I wanna show you but before we get to that, let's get this overdue review out of the way first.


Packaging

• The packaging is pretty similar to the original Show Off lip lacquers with a doe foot applicator. Only difference is these have a matte finish packaging. 
• .169 oz or 5 ml

Product

• Atomic Rose looks like a dusty mauve rose in the tube but I was quite surprised that the color didn't translate the same on the lips. The pictures didn't go a good job capturing its true color. In natural light, it's a straight up bright coral. 
• The formula feels light-weight and the pigmentation is pretty good. It applied smoothly and evenly. At first it looks like a cream finish but appears more matte as it dries. 
• I didn't find the formula to be hydrating or drying but it's pretty comfortable.
• It last up to 5 hours before I notice some fading and it doesn't fade easily either.
• It has a paint-like smell. Don't really like it but it does fade after a few minutes.

Final Thought

Can't say that I love or hate it. It's just mehhh! Not that great but not bad either. I don't really love this color on me either. Bottom line is, it's matte, it's pigmented, it's long-wearing, it feels light and comfortable. It wished it was more moisturizing and that it smelled better.

Hello all,

It was another stressful week that ended better than the last but I still have lot of things going through my head about what the next few months are going to be like and a potential new opportunity might present itself soon...so we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out. If there's anything I've learned is always be prepared for the worst, especially when you have to deal with people you can't trust.

• Finger Paints Daubigny's Garden, $4.99...OMG I couldn't help myself but fall in love instantly when I first saw it. Look at that glimmer!
• Beautique Lip Liner Currant, $1.79. This was kind of an impulse purchase just because it was on sale, lol. 

Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation True Ivory - Swatch and Review

A few weeks ago, I was stalking Walgreens to see if any new collection or product made it to the shelves but I didn't really find anything of interest. However, when I got to the Rimmel stand and saw that they had a BOGO sale, I decided to try out this long lasting 25 hour foundation.

Packaging

• Plastic squeeze tube. It's practical and I prefer that to a bottle without a pump. 
• 1 oz or 30 ml

Product

• True Ivory is a neutral light/medium shade with neutral undertone. I thought that the shade range is slightly darker than it should be. Most ivory foundation are a bit light on me but this one is a perfect match for my skin tone. 
• The foundation yields a medium coverage that can be built up to full coverage. It does set rather quickly. I find it easier to apply one area at a time. It dries down to a satin finish. 
• It feels a bit sticky on the skin. I don't really like that but I can deal with it. 
• It's quite long-wearing, although I wouldn't vouch for 25 hours. At 8 hours, I noticed very subtle fading. It definitely hold up in hot and humid weather. However, it doesn't control oil and shine so I still find my skin a little shiny. 
• it has a floral scent that lingers for a little while.

Final Thought

It's definitely long-wearing and holds well against sweat and humidity. I also like the finish and the medium-full coverage but I don't like the slight sticky feel. I think for the price, it's definitely worth a try if you want a long-wearing foundation with an affordable price tag.

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick Tower of Mauve - Swatch and Review

This week has been going pretty quick but we've been unproductive at work due to our system going down so that means that I'll probably be stuck at work this weekend...Ughhhh!
I picked up this one lipstick from Rimmel's new and revamped Moisture Renew lipsticks, just because I was curious.

Packaging

• The newer packaging isn't that much different from the old one. Instead of a metallic purple case, here we get a slightly translucent purple and longer cap. 

Product

• Tower of Mauve is a medium brownish pink nude with a cream finish.
• There is definitely a noticeable improvement in the formula. I love the creamy light-weight texture. It applied buttery smooth on the lips. I'm quite impressed. It also feels comfortable and moisturizing. 
• It has an incredibly strong perfumy scent. It's probably one of the strongest scent I have ever smelled on a lipstick. Wow, all I gotta say is if you are sensitive to scent you will have to smell this one before you buy. 
• It last on average about 4 hours before it starts to fade.

Final Thought

The formula is impressive for a drugstore brand. It definitely feels luxurious on the lips. It's pigmented, moisturizing, light-weight, and has an average wear time. My main complaint would be the strong perfumy scent.

Rimmel Glitter Bomb Top Coat Disco Fever

I spotted Disco Fever on a late night stroll to Walgreens. I was originally there to fetch some cough drops.
It had a $1 coupon next to it so I couldn't resist and out of the 4 or 5 shades that they had on display, I decided that I did not have a square holo glitter so I decided to scoop it up.
The clear base is slightly on the thick side but makes picking up the glitters really easy. You still need to dab a little bit to position the glitters where you want them but otherwise, it's pretty easy to work with.

On the swatches below, I have one coat of Disco Fever over 2 coats of OPI Pamplona Purple. Is it just me or it seems like being square makes them less sparkly?

Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeshadow Paint Berry Chrome - Swatch and Review

A few weeks ago, I purchased this cream eyeshadow at K-Mart. Had I known then that K-Mart was going to close down, I would've waited for it to go on sale but even at regular price, it's still pretty inexpensive.


Packaging

• It comes in a tube with a doe foot applicator. 
• .23 oz or 7 ml

Product

• Berry Chrome is a medium dark shimmery reddish plum with pink shimmers.
• The formula is pigmented and dries fairly quick. Previously, I had tried the shade Pomegranate, which I really loved but for some reason Berry Chrome applied a bit blotchy. Whether I use my fingers or a brush to blend it out, I get about the same result. You can definitely add another layer if you feel the need to but I wouldn't do more than that. 
• I have moderately oily lids and without a primer, I was happy to see that it didn't crease when worn up to 8 hours. There was some slight fading but it wears longer with a primer. 

Final Thought

This cream eyeshadow had a lovely color and nice pigmentation. It applied slightly blotchy but I don't find it noticeable from afar. Otherwise, it wears fairly long and doesn't crease.

Rimmel Glam'Eyes Liquid Eyeliner Black Glamour - Swatch and Review

Hi everyone,

I hope you had a nice valentine. I didn't do anything special. I dropped off my son to the anime con in town after work, at that time it was rush hour and we almost got into a car accident on the freeway. Some idiot nearly rear-ended me during traffic. I saw him coming from quite a distance on my rear view mirror because the headlights were approaching fast. I knew he could've stopped but he was driving too fast and probably didn't pay attention that traffic was slowing down. Then I heard the tires screeching, my back got stiff, and I was sweating bullets. I lost my cool and cussed the crap out of him in my car, lol. In all seriousness, I try to avoid being around careless drivers but when you're stuck between cars there's nowhere to go to avoid collision other than pray. Fortunately, I think what saved me was the fact that I had a bit of space between the car behind me and the car in front of me so I tried to move as close to the car in front of me hoping that the moron behind me have enough room to break before effin up my car. Phewwwww! It was pretty close but it still didn't stop him from trying to dodge through the traffic...bastard!

I don't know if this eyeliner is new but it's new to me because I've never noticed it before, lol. I picked it at Walgreens last week. I don't really need a black eyeliner right at the moment but I was curious and wanted to give it a try. I use black eyeliner religiously so getting another one wouldn't hurt.

Packaging

• Sleek and black. I like that. It's a dip and line eyeliner with a fine brush applicator. The brush applicator is perfect for me. It is the perfect size and has the right length and flexibility to create fine lines. You can definitely create thicker line if you layer it a couple times. 
• .11 oz or 3.5 ml

Product

• The formula is not too thick or thin and is very pigmented and black. Takes about a minute to dry and look matte when dry.
• I like the fact that the packaging gives me control over how much product I can pick up with the brush. 
• What I like about the formula is that it doesn't smear, transfer, or budge for up to 8 hours. It is not waterproof so if you tend to have watery eyes or rub your eyes occasionally, this liner certainly will fade quicker. 
• I think the only con I can think of is sometimes you can get the product on to your eyelashes but if you're careful and have a steady hand, it won't happy much. 

Final Thought

Personally, I find this liner very easy to use. Had this been a waterproof formula, I think it would have been an HG product for me but for what it is I am quite pleased at what it can deliver for the price. The brush tip applicators are the best when it comes to creative that sharp crisp winged flicker.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeshadow Paint Pomegrenate - Swatch, Review, & Eye Makeup Look

I first spotted these new Rimmel Scandaleyes cream eyeshadows at K-Mart and so far it's the only store I've come upon that has them in my area. They had 6 or 8 colors available. Though the other shades were quite pretty and tempting, I only grabbed Pomegranate because it's the only cream eyeshadow color I don't have.

Packaging

• It comes in a tube with a doe foot applicator. 
• .23 oz or 7 ml

Product

• Pomegranate is a medium dark shimmery burgundy with specks of gold shimmers. Finding some gold shimmers in it was quite a nice surprise. 
• The formula is pigmented and dries fairly quick. In spite of that I didn't really have any issues with the application. I would apply a bit with the wand directly on my eyelids and them use my finger to pat and blend the color. I also found that using a synthetic brush works just as well. You can also add a second layer if you want a more intense color or if you need to even out the application. I was very pleased that it didn't cake on or crack when I layered it. Some similar product have a tendency to do that. 
• I have moderately oily lids and without a primer, I was happy to see that it didn't crease when worn up to 8 hours. There was some slight fading but it wears longer with a primer. 

Final Thought

This cream eyeshadow had a lovely color and nice pigmentation. Though it sets fairly quick, it still allowed me to apply and blend the color evenly. It doesn't cake or flake when you layer it and doesn't crease without a primer. Very good product for the price.

• I'm wearing Pomegrenate on the center of the lid. I applied a medium brown matte eyeshadow on the crease and a dark brown shade on the outer V. 
• For the upper lash line, I created a winged liner with Physicians Formula Eyebooster liquid liner in Ultra Black. 
• On my lower lash line, I'm wearing MAC Pearlglide Intense Eyeliner Industrial 
• I'm also wearing Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Crayon Blacquer on my waterline.

Rimmel Metal Rush Duochrome Nail Polishes Swatches

I have not seen this set in any other stores beside K-Mart, at least so far. But when I saw that they were supposedly duochrome and only $1.99 each, I was like what the heck, just get them all! 

These Metal Rush polishes are small, only 8 ml, which is about half of a typical nail polish. I'm totally fine with that. I don't think I've ever finished a bottle of nail polish anyways. 

Bronze Princess is no doubt my favorite of the pack and if I was only to get one from this set, this would be the one. Though I've seen other duochrome polishes that look similar, I don't think I've seen any that is a close dupe to it. The color shifts from a silvery smoky purple to an olive green. Bronze Princess also has the strongest duochrome between the three. All I needed was just 2 coats. The brush is a bit uneven but the formula is good and applies smoothly.

Gold Save The Queen has a really gorgeous antique gold color to it with some subtle green shimmers running through. It shifts from antique gold to a reddish brown dependent the lighting and angle of view.  It runs a bit on the sheer but I was able to get a fairly decent opacity with two coats. Same issue with uneven brush bristles but good formula that dries fairly quick.

Ok, so Pearly Queen is probably not that unique and I've seen many that are similar. It reminded me of Zoya Adina but more sheer. This is the sheerest out of the three and it shifts from a pearly pale lavender to shimmery light green. I did three coats on the swatches. Formula is consistent for all of these polishes and the brush could use some improvement but other than that. I can't complain much.
