I had the opportunity to redeem my beauty insider points from Sephora for this new Marc Jacobs Gel Liner pencil, which I am excited about. So far my overall, impression of the makeup from the brand seem very classy and luxurious but the price point makes me a little hesitant, especially with all the competitive prices and products available out there.
Packaging
- I have a deluxe sample but it seems to replicate the original packaging. It is retractable and the full size version comes with a built-in sharpener.
Product
- The pigmentation is pretty good. Blacquer is very dark and black.
- The gel glides easily on the skin without pulling or tugging. It sets fairly quickly so if you need to smudge it, you would have to act quickly.
- I have difficulty getting a thin line out of it but for a thicker liner look, this would be perfect.
- I am also happy to report that the longevity is excellent. It doesn't smudge or smear and stay put all day until I take it off. I do notice a small amount of transfer when I use it for tight lining but then again, I have that issue with pretty much all the liners that I use for tight lining. When used as a normal liner, I really have no issue.
- Requires water-proof makeup remover
Final Thought
Awesome pigmentation with smooth and long lasting formula. Perfect for creating a dark, intense, and bold liner. I don't think I would shed the money for it but aside from that, this liner is almost perfect.

wow! that looks pigmented and great! I havent had a chance to see the new Marc Jacobs line
ReplyDeleteI haven't been in a Sephora store in a while. I've been enjoying shopping online for the freebies and samples.
Deletethe pigmentation looks awesome but too bad it is tricky to do thin lines which I prefer. Thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteyeah you can do a thinner line if you use a small brush and apply it with a brush.
DeleteLooks very pigmented and smooth!!
ReplyDeleteyes, I would totally expect that for something this expensive.
DeleteIt looks so luxurious, i'd love to try any of the marc jabobs beauty products x

Me too but for the moment, I guess I'll wait cause I have so many things on my wishlist already.
Deletetotally missed out on this perk but I know which black eyeliner i'm picking up next (: .. this looks AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteNice! lucky you.
DeleteThe swatch looks great! I wonder if Sephoras in NYC also have this as a reward. Was it a 100 or 500 points item?
ReplyDeleteit was 100 points. I got a few weeks ago so I don't know if that is still available but you never know till you check.
Deletewow that's a great color! it's really rare to find that kind of pigmentation with black pencil-liner.

Yes and when I do they are usually the high end ones.
DeleteIt sounds great and the pigmentation is awesome, it looks like it would be awesome as a base as well xx
ReplyDeleteIt's a bit thick and sets too quickly, plus it's a bit expensive. I'd use a base that is creamier and more budget friendly.
DeleteI also added this to my cart using my pts. I have yet to open it, but this review helps. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI've been using it for tightlining a lot. Nothing else compare.
DeleteSeems very pigmented and creamy. I'll see if I remember to try it in-store xx
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely one of the best gel liner I tried. I don't like the price but I might just give in when I'm done with the sample.
Deletei like that it's a gel liner but in a pen format! very neat!
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I don't always like having to grab a brush and clean it up
DeleteThis whole collection looks so amazing, but the prices have definitely kept me away. Thanks for the review, glad to know if I did spend the money it'd be worth it!
ReplyDeleteI haven't stepped inside a Sephora store in a while. I need to make a trip there and play with the new makeup. I'd love to get a feel for the rest of the collection.
DeleteAwesome pigmentation, but that price...whew, don't think I "need" it.
