Collective (Drugstore) Haul & Swatches - Things I've Hauled While I Was Away
So while I was away, I did buy makeup here and there. I was intrigued by the LA Splash liquid lipsticks so I picked up a few shades. There was many other shades that appealed to me but decided to just pick these colors to see how I liked them. I love and hate these, lol. Will tell you more on my review.

NYX Eyebrow Gel Brunette Swatch and Review
I came home early from work today because the computer system is down so there is nothing we can do, which is unfortunate because it's our month end week and we still got a lot of entries to do so eventually I will still need to makeup for loss time, boo!
Few weeks ago when NYX had a sale, I went ahead and snag this new eyebrow gel and a few of their new Simply Lip Cream. Got to test it out for a few days and here's what I think of it...
Packaging
- Plastic clear squeeze tube. The packaging reminded me a lot the Make Up Forever Aqua Brow.
- .34 oz or 10 ml
Product
- Brunette is a medium brown with grey undertone, which I find perfect because it's not too dark and it complements my hair color.
- The pigmentation is very good. The gel feels more like a cream. I find the texture a bit thick and the quick dry formula makes this brow gel tricky to apply. You will need to work fast. I would suggest working on a small area at a time and try to spread it out evenly in one coat. Adding a second coat makes it difficult to blend and can end up looking cakey.
- Once the product sets, which is within a few seconds, it does not budge or smudge. It is also waterproof. However, if you have oily skin, the color may smudge a bit when you rub on it. Otherwise, it's rather long-wearing.
Final Thought
My main complaint would be the quick drying/setting. It doesn't give me enough time to work with it until I'm happy with the application so I have to be extra careful and quicker. Not a product I wanna mess with when I'm in a hurry. I also don't really like the thick creamy consistency. It makes it easy to cake up. Put that aside, the pigmentation is great and a little goes a long way. If you're looking for an affordable waterproof brow gel, you might be interested in this product.

Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade Dark Brown - Swatch and Review
Heard of great reviews about this new brow product from Anastasia and I was intrigued. I like the fact that it is a cream formula and supposed to be waterproof and budge-proof. There is now 8 shades available. At the time that I purchased it, I think there was only 4 or 5.
Packaging
- Small glass jar container with beautiful logo design on the cap.
- .14 oz or 4 g
Product
- I got the shade dark brown and that's exactly what it is. I also liked that it was a cool toned brown. It looks very natural like my brows but better lol.
- It has a nice creamy consistency, not too thick or too thin. It is also very pigmented.
- I found it a bit tricky to use because it's so pigmented and dark and sets quickly. I use a dense small angled liner for application and lightly pick up some product from the pot and apply quickly and blend quickly with my natural brows. You can also use a spoolie to soften the color and give it a more natural appearance.
- It only takes a few seconds to set and once it does, it doesn't budge or smudge.
- It's definitely waterproof. I swatched some on my hand and even through several hand washes, it doesn't budge. You will need a waterproof makeup remover to get this off.
- I'm able to wear this all day with no issue but I tend to get a bit oily on my forehead and even more so in hot and humid weather so I have to be careful not to rub my hand around my brows because in that case it would smudge.
Final Thought
The pigmentation and wear is excellent. It may wear off quicker if you have oily skin. Application definitely takes some practice to get it right because the product sets so quickly. The dark brown works ok for me but I have to be careful and blend it well with my brows. I think the medium brown probably would've worked out better because I don't want my brows to look too dark.

Sephora Haul and Drugstore Haul
I just had an itch to spend money, lol, so I stopped by Sephora last week and here's a few items that I picked up.
- Anastasia Dipbrow pomade in dark brown, $18.00. It's been on my wishlist for a long time so I'm glad I can finally scratch that off.
- Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Blacquer, $25.00. Price is a bit overkill but I use this religiously for tightlining and occasionally on the waterline and nothing else works better for me on those areas of my eyes.
- Sephora Luster Matte long-wear lip color in the shade Cranberry Luster, $16.00. I was very impressed upon swatching it in store. It's super saturated and smooth. I'm already contemplating on getting another shade.
- Urban Decay Deslick makeup setting spray, $14.00. It's been hot. It's been humid. And I need something to keep my face on.
- Jack Black Double Duty Face Moisturizer, 100 points. Upon my first impression, I really like the lightweight texture. It also absorbs really fast and doesn't feel greasy. It does have a strong soapy scent to it. I don't mind it though.
The week before I went to Sephora, I managed to pick up a few things at Walgreens, CVS, and Sally Beauty Supply
- Sally Hanse Insta-Dri Grape Shifter
- Milani Nail Lacquer in Mauve Medley, got it at CVS. I think it was on clearance when I picked it up.
- Beautique Lip Crayon Mustang. I got this on clearance at Sally Beauty for less than a dollar.
- Ardell Curvy 410 and 414. I love how it extend and elongate on the other corner. Perfect for a cat eye look.
- Revlon Colorstay Skinny liquid liner in Green Spark. Spotted this new liner and felt like I just had to try it.
- Lastly, I ran out of the Sephora supreme cleansing oil and wanted to try out the Garnier Nourishing Cleansing oil. I feel that oil cleansers are much more gentle and effective at removing face makeup.
That's it for now. What have you hauled lately?
ELF Eyebrow Lifter & Filler Ivory/Light - Swatch and Review
Hello beautifuls,
Sorry for slacking off but I will make an effort to post more regularly. Ever since boss lady has banned the breaks, the work days have been feeling a little more draining. On the plus side, I've been getting more sleep and not having trouble sleeping anymore. As a matter of fact, I now feel that no matter how much I sleep I still want to sleep, lol.
Anyways, let's get this review moving so I can also work on other posts too...
Packaging
- Dual ended pencil. On one side, we have the brow filler, which also includes a pencil sharpener cap and on the other side we have the lifter.
Product
- I got this brow pencil in the lightest shade, which is a medium cool-toned brown filler and a peachy pink nude lifter.
- Both color feel creamy and a bit waxy. I was quite happy that the light brown filler actually works out for me even if I have dark brown hair. The color is lighter than what I'm normally used too but it still gives me enough color to define my brows and keep them looking natural. I'm not really a fan of really dark brows. It doesn't look right on my face. I find the waxy texture also help tame the brows a bit.
- Now you need extra tools, not included with the package, in order to create natural looking brows. You'll need either a spoolie or a dense small eyebrow brush to blend in the brow color. The lifter works well for creating a defined edge underneath your brows and highlight your brow bone. You'd also need a dense brush to blend it out. I wouldn't use it on the top part of the brows though. The pink undertone just doesn't look right up there. It's best to use a concealer that matches your skin tone if you want to outline the outer part of the brows.
Final Thought
I'm not crazy about the cap sharpener but it is convenient for traveling if you don't want to bring along another pencil sharpener. The filler and lifter has the right about of pigmentation and creaminess to work as intended but if I had it my way, I would prefer the brow filler on one end and an eyebrow brush on the other end since I don't care much for the lifter. The color stay put through most of the day as long as you're careful not to rub your brows.

Prestige Brow Perfection Brow Building System Medium-Deep Review
This review is way overdue. I've been using The Prestige Brow Perfection for over a month I think. I wish there was more of these kind of tinted brow gel on the market because filling your brows with a pencil or powder just can't do what these brow gel do.
Packaging
- This is a dual brow product with one side being a tinted fiber filler and the other side being a clear setting gel. Both end has a mascara type wand applicator.
- .30 oz or 8.87 ml
Product
- What I normally do before I use the Brow Perfection is fill in my brows with either a pencil or a powder to give shape and fullness to my brows.
- The first step is to use the tinted side, which comes with fibers and is supposed to make your brows look thicker. The gel is on the thin side with an ok pigmentation. I normally do two coats and it dries fairly quickly between coats. There aren't that many fibers on the wand. I don't know if they do anything but I do notice a subtle difference. I think it's mainly because of the tinted gel and not so much because of the fibers.
- Once the tinted gel dries, the second step is to add the clear setting gel. Quite honestly, I don't find this step necessary but I would agree that it does help brush off some stray fibers. However, you're going to end up with the tinted gel color on the wand. If you don't want the clear gel to get tinted you will need to clean the wand before dipping it back into the tube.
- I took a before and after picture and you can clearly see that after I'm done, my brows look more defined and a little thicker yet still very natural looking. I really love how it keeps my brow hair in place and looking nicely groomed.
Final Thought
I think the tinted gel could have been just a wee bit thicker and more pigmented. The result yield slightly thicker, defined, and very natural looking brows that stays in place all day. I didn't have any issues with the product fading or flaking off. So if you are looking for a more affordable way to thicken and darken your brows, I think this does a fairly decent job.

MAC Velux Brow Liner Review & Swatches
I have a ton of stuff that needs to be reviewed and swatched but working full time makes it difficult. Some days, I just pass out when I come home. Most days, I'm too rushed to even remember or think about products I need to test for reviews.
I'm going to keep this review short and sweet. About a week ago, I picked up this brow pencil by MAC. They recently released a new collection for brows. I am not sure if it is limited edition but it is still available online. I was also interested in trying out the Fluidline for brows but the shade I wanted sold out in store and I hear it's super pigmented so perhaps it's not for me since I prefer my brows to look natural.
Packaging
- I probably would have loved it even more if it was a retractable pencil but you'd have to use a pencil sharpener, which causes you to lose some product.
- However, what I really like is how secure the caps feel when you put them on the pencil. I've had a lot of pencil caps break or get loose on me and I end up losing them or they would come off and create a mess or let my pencil to dry out. That's not going to happen with these caps because they are made of metal. Another great thing about the caps is that both of them are the same size so you don't have to think or worry about accidentally putting the wrong cap on and damage the tip of your pencil.
- One end of the pencil contains a spoolie, which is really awesome because it helps blend the color so that it looks natural.
- Net weight 1.19 g or .042 oz
The shade I picked is Deep Dark Brunette. What I love about this color is that it's a dark brown with grey undertone. Looks very natural for those who have dark hair.
Product
- The pencil feels smooth and has good pigmentation. It also has a powdery finish. Most of the brow pencils I've used don't have that powdery feel but I quite like it.
- It's really easy to work with, again the spoolie is very handy, and you can go light or a bit heavier for more defined brows by applying a bit more pressure.
- It pretty much last me all day until I take it off.
It's a bit pricy, $19.50, but you won't be disappointed if you don't mind the price. Formula is easy to work with to create natural and defined brows.
My rating: 9/10.

How to Fill and Shape Your Eye Brows
I often get complimented on my eyebrows (whenever I do them, lol) and Holly Ann had requested that I do a post about how I do my brows. Although, I don't feel like I do anything special or amazing to them, I still take these steps whenever I want to make them look nice.
I normally like to just fill along the natural shape of my eyebrows but if you are anal about symmetry then you can use the above diagram as reference. The start of your eyebrows should vertically align with your tear duct. The arch of your eyebrow should be slightly over your eyeballs. Your eyebrows should end where the edge of your nose and outer corner of your eyes align.
You may have already seen or heard about these tips but if you haven't yet, I hope it was helpful. Thanks for reading :)
1. First off, I have sparse and thin brow hair so they are pretty easy to manage. I usually pluck the stubborn little hair that grow out of place with a tweezer like every other day. If you have bushy or thick eyebrows, this task may be a challenge. And if you have no idea how much to pluck, I would suggest that you get them waxed or threaded by a professional and from there maintain them on a daily basis by tweezing them out as they come.
2. By using a lash comb, I brush my brows up and trim about 2 mm out wherever I feel like they are a bit long or not going the way I want them to. I don't do this often because I don't have a lot of hair anyways. Be very careful when you do this or you may trim too much and it won't look pretty.
3. Now that your eyebrows are nicely groomed, you fill them in if needed. You have the option of using a brow pencil or brow powder. I use a combination of both on occasion. I tend to reach for my ELF eyebrow kit often. I like using the tinted gel. It's not too pigmented so it's easy to control and it looks quite natural on me, which I like. I don't like it when my eyebrows look like they've been drawn because it looks clownish.
4. I pick up the tinted gel with a stiff small angled liner and about 1/2 inch from where my brows start, with short strokes I apply the gel moving my way outward until I reach the arching point.
5. I pick up more product if needed and go back to apply from the arch point and making my way down.
6. I go back to where I started filling my brows and use the left over product on my brush to slowly work my way inward. Tip: by using a pencil and a short light-handed stroke, you can create/draw the illusion of hair. This will take some practice to master until you have more control of how much you apply.
7. Rub off excess product with a dry Q-tip if needed.
8. See the difference between the before and after of my brows? Keep it as natural looking as can be. Avoid using brow powders/pencils with red undertone. If you have dark hair, use a color that is a shade or two lighter than your hair color. If you have light hair, use a color that is a shade or two darker than your hair color. Once you are done filling your brows, if you want or need to, you can use a clear or colored brow gel (the one that comes in a wand/mascara looking tube) and brush over your brows to keep them in place. I normally don't bother since my brows are not really out of control.

E.L.F Sale and Mini Review
E.L.F. aka Eyes Lips Face, is having a 50% off sale on everything on their site now till October 18, some may be even 60% off but only through October 13. You can also find their products in select stores like Target, Big Lots, and the Dollar store; however, quantities may be limited. If you want to see the complete line you can go to http://www.eyeslipsface.com/
My two cents about E.L.F. is that their product are actually decent for what you are paying. Of course, they can't really compare to high-end makeup but they are worth a shot. I personally prefer their Studio Line products. It's pretty good quality for just $3 a piece. I've ordered a few times from them and they ship your order fairly quickly. I got mines within a week from placing my order. Shipping cost is around $6. They always have sales, so just wait for a sale to go up before purchasing. I'm interested in trying out a few more things but I'm also trying to save my money for other purchases. Since the holidays are coming up, there will be a lot of sales and good deal packages.
My favorite E.L.F products that I've ordered so far is the Studio Line Powder brush, Studio Line blush, and Studio Line Eyebrow kit.
The powder brush is my go-to foundation brush and I use it daily. My only complaint about this product is that is it a bit flimsy around the ferrule. Otherwise, it blends my liquid foundation like a dream for a soft-focused airbrushed effect and doesn't shed. It's densely packed but not too tightly. The bristles are very soft and since they are synthetic, you won't ruin them if you use liquid foundation.
They are super cheap makeup and their regular price range from $1-6 unless you are buying a set or a kit. For those on a tight budget, the sale makes them even cheaper!

I have the E.L.F. blush in pink passion. It looks like a bubblegum pink with a slight blue tone to it. It’s completely matte. It’s pretty pigmented and finely milled so I’d suggest using a light hand. The packaging is quite sturdy and includes a small mirror. The front window allows you to see the color inside the pan without having to open it.
I have the E.L.F. eyebrow kit in dark. One side is a tinted gel and the other is a dark brown powder. The packaging and size is exactly like that of the Studio Line blush. It also comes with a small brush applicator. The tinted gel kind of goes sheer so you won’t over apply the color. I usually don’t bother using the powder to set it. It seems to look more natural with just the gel alone.
