Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Grape Shifter

I've been contemplating this nail glitter many time at the store whenever I walk by it and every time I was tempted to pick it up until one day I told myself, just get it already! So glad that I did. Now, I don't have to keep staring at it in store anymore, lol. You know and I know that if you keep coming back to stare at a product over and over again that you just NEED to buy it.

Grape Shifter has a mix of small blue glitters, medium pink glitters, and larger silver holo glitters in a clear base. The formula appear thick at first glance but it wasn't goopy and glides very easily on the nails. The glitters also spread out evenly and effortlessly.
I dislike the packaging, the wide wand and narrow opening makes it a pain to move the brush in and out of the bottle but this mix of glitter is sure gorgeous and worth the trouble.
On the swatches below, I have one coat of Grape Shifter over Orly Mysterious Curse. So sparkly and pretty. I love it!

Tried it? What base color would you pair Grape Shifter with?

Sephora Haul and Drugstore Haul

I just had an itch to spend money, lol, so I stopped by Sephora last week and here's a few items that I picked up.

The week before I went to Sephora, I managed to pick up a few things at Walgreens, CVS, and Sally Beauty Supply

  • Sally Hanse Insta-Dri Grape Shifter
  • Milani Nail Lacquer in Mauve Medley, got it at CVS. I think it was on clearance when I picked it up.
  • Beautique Lip Crayon Mustang. I got this on clearance at Sally Beauty for less than a dollar.
  • Ardell Curvy 410 and 414. I love how it extend and elongate on the other corner. Perfect for a cat eye look.
  • Revlon Colorstay Skinny liquid liner in Green Spark. Spotted this new liner and felt like I just had to try it.
  • Lastly, I ran out of the Sephora supreme cleansing oil and wanted to try out the Garnier Nourishing Cleansing oil. I feel that oil cleansers are much more gentle and effective at removing face makeup.

That's it for now. What have you hauled lately?

Sally Hansen Triple Shine Jelly Polish Swatches

Hope you're having an awesome Memorial day weekend. I spotted these new Sally Hansen Jellies at CVS a few weeks ago and felt like I just had to have them. I mean it's not very often you'd come across Jellies at the drugstore and I love me some jellies for jelly sandwiches. Each cost approximately about $5.00.

Jell-ous? is a sheer strawberry pink

3 coats

On this jelly sandwich, the holographic glitters are sandwiched between 3 coats on bottom and top

Grape Jelly is a sheer bluish purple

Sea Through is a sheer teal green

I did 3 coats on each of the polishes by themselves and as you can see they are very sheer, much sheerer than I would like them to be. I really wished they were a tad more pigmented. The good thing is they are easy to work with, they don't streak and apply rather evenly, and they dry fairly quickly. I probably would use a more pigmented colored base and use these as toppers.

Sally Hansen Triple Shine Twinkled Pink Swatch

I'm such a sucker for nail glitters and when I spotted this sparkling pink glitter from Sally Hansen Triple Shine collection, I couldn't resist but put it in my shopping basket. Ok, I admit it looks adorable in the bottle but overall I was rather underwhelmed once I got it on my nails. Sad, I know but it's still pretty and I think it was a perfect match over China Glaze Ahoy!
Twinkled Pink has a sheer pink jelly base that wasn't too thick or thin and picked up a fairly decent amount of glitters. It contains iridescent pink and gold glitters as well as silver glitters. Formula was rather easy to work with.
With the understated glitters, I think Twinkle Pink is a nice top coat for those who enjoy just a little bit of sparkles.

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Swatches - Midnight Glitz and Fa-la-la-lavender

Hey everyone,

While I was strolling at K-Mart the other day. I also picked up these two new Sally Hansen glitter polishes. You wanna know what's sad though? I picked up two because the display had a coupon for buy one get one free SH nail polish so I was like yay cool beans I get a free polish! And then by the time I got to the cash register and was ready to pay for my purchases, I completely forgot about my coupon...I felt like a total loser after I had realized that I failed. I was driving halfway home when it hit me I had forgotten something, lol.

Anyways, aside from my retarded moment, the glitter I really wanted was Midnight Glitz. The base is actually clear but it contains black glitters along with some gold and holographic glitters. It wasn't too thick or thin and picked up a decent amount of glitters. I did one coat over OPI My Private Jet and topped with a clear top coat. I'm so digging this combo!

Fa-la-la-Lavender has purple and pink glitters in a clear base. A little underwhelmed with this glitter and frankly I wouldn't have picked it up if I didn't see the coupon but it just beats me that I forgot to use it...yea yea I know I'm still crying over spilled milk knowing I could have saved myself $8.00.
It has a good amount of glitter and the base is not too thick or thin. I did one coat over Sally Hansen Lavender Cloud and added a top coat.

Sally Hansen Triple Shine Nail Polish Swatches - Hypnautical, Scale Up, and Sparkling Water

I've been seeing these new Sally Hansen polishes popping out at CVS, Walgreens, and Wal-Mart so I got curious and scooped 3 of them to try. They retail for $4.99 so the price was pretty reasonable.

Apparently, they are called Triple Shine because they contains a shield complex that protect the color and seal the shine for dull proof results. Sounds great but honestly, I do not find them any shinier than other nail polishes that I've tried so don't get your hopes too high about what it claims to do.

There is an outer cap that you need to remove before you can get to the inner cap. A feature, I normally see in high end nail polishes so it was a bit of a surprise. Each bottle contains .33 oz or 10 ml of product, slightly less than the standard nail polish amount.

The wand and the brush is pretty much the same as the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri nail polishes. I am so annoyed by this wide flat wand. See how there's barely any room for it at the neck of the bottle. That means that you have to be extra careful when dipping your brush back into the bottle or you can potentially wipe some product from the wand into the opening, which can create a mess and glue your wand to the bottle.

Hypnautical, Scale Up, Sparkling Water

Hypnautical has a light sheer teal base with small blue and green glitters as well as iridescent teal flake glitters. The flake glitters lay flat for the most part but you will get the occasional ones that kinda sticks out. It's a nice sparkly top coat and the brush picks up a decent amount of glitters within the first pass. The formula is leaning a bit on the thick side but still remains manageable. I used a clear top coat over it. I didn't think it was shiny enough on its own.

Scale Up has a sheer green base with small gold and green glitters and iridescent teal flake glitters. The formula is pretty much the same as Hypnautical, with the occasional sticking out flakie. I also added a clear top coat on the swatches. Looks pretty in the bottle but just alright on the nails.

Sparkling Water is no doubt my favorite of the bunch. It has a sheer teal blue jelly base with sparkling blue shimmers. In the bottle, you could see some pink shimmers but they are barely noticeable on the nails. Formula wasn't too thick or thin and applied easily but 3 coats was needed for opaque coverage.

Overall, there is nothing to write home about with the new Triple Shine formula. I think they're good but not all that and for the price, if you spot a color that appeals to you, it's worth checking out.

What do you think? Will you be trying a few of these?
