Jordana Cat Eye Liner Suede - Swatch and Review

Stumbled upon these new Jordana Cat Eye Liners at my local Walgreens. They had a total of 8 colors to choose from but I decided to just try out one first and see how I like it.

Packaging
  • Long and slim tube with a thin brush applicator. The part that holds the color is a clear plastic so what you see is what the color inside look like. The cap/handle is black and it was pretty hard for me to read the prints because the dark purple almost blend in with the black.
  • I like the brush. It can create very thin and precise lines. It has just the right amount of flexibility to it.
  • .057 oz or 1.7 ml

Product
  • Suede is a dark purple with a subtle shimmer.
  • It's actually nicely pigmented but I find myself applying 2 or 3 layers in order to even out the application. I wonder if that's just me. It dries fairly quickly.
  • The staying power is pretty awesome. Once it's on, it doesn't budge, smudge, or fade until I take it off.

Final Thought

I would prefer a thinner consistency but didn't have any issues working with this liner. It has a good brush with a long and comfortable handle. It's not waterproof but it definitely doesn't go anywhere until you take it off. Pretty good for the price I must say.

Hello all,

It was another stressful week that ended better than the last but I still have lot of things going through my head about what the next few months are going to be like and a potential new opportunity might present itself soon...so we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out. If there's anything I've learned is always be prepared for the worst, especially when you have to deal with people you can't trust.

I got a few random things that I picked up here and there in the past week so I wanted to share with you what's coming up.

  • Essence All About Candies Eyeshadow palette, $4.99
  • Pixel Pro Eyeshadow Charming, $.99
  • Pixel Pro Eyeshadow Endearing, $.99
  • Pixel Lip Butter Gorgeous, $1.49
  • Pixel Lip Butter Serene, $1.49

  • Rimmel Show Off Lip Velvet Matte Atomic Rose, $5.49

Jordana Lipstick Pom-Tini - Swatch and Review

Happy Saturday lovelies,

It's been a week since I posted something. I was slacking off busy and also wanted to take a break. We're going back to having frigid temperatures again and I've been dropping off my kids to school for the past few days because it's just too cold to be out there waiting for the bus. For some reason I just have the sudden urge to go take pictures of the snow. I thought to myself, you know you should really take more pictures. I'm pretty sure once I step outside, I'll change my mind really quick, lol.
Since I wasn't working on my blog, I got to sleep a little more and felt a bit more rested.

Today, I have for you review of this Jordana lipstick that I got on sale at K-Mart a couple weeks ago. I think it ended up being $1.00 and some change.

Packaging

  • Clear see-through round plastic tube.
  • .12 oz or 3.4 g

Product
  • Pom-tini is a raspberry red with subtle gold shimmers and frosty finish. The frost here is a bit much for me. I wished it was less frosty.
  • The lipstick glided smoothly and applied evenly without tugging. The pigmentation is good and give full coverage. The color leaves staining behind.
  • The formula wasn't moisturizing and my lips felt dry after 2 hours of wear. I'd recommend wearing a good lip balm underneath to make it more comfortable.
  • The color last 4 hours on me before it starts fading and the stain will remain for a few more hours, though it ends up looking blotchy as it fades.
  • It has a strong artificial, sort of fruity scent to it, that is similar to the Milani Color Statement lipsticks. I'm not really a fan of it.

Final Thought

As far as color and finish, it may be subject to personal taste. I liked the fact that it was pigmented and wasn't tugging during application. Formula was slightly on the dry then again, you should be ok if you prep your lips and wear a lip balm beforehand.
I didn't love the scent but on top of that there was an odd after taste on this particular lipstick and I don't think I will be keeping it. This is like the 3rd time, I purchased a lipstick on sale at K-Mart and they ended up smelling or tasting weird like they've been sitting on that shelf like forever, probably the main reason why they were on sale. My advice is don't get this from K-Mart but if you take your chances either save your receipt or realize that you could to lose a buck or two on it.

Rating: 7/10

Price: roughly around $2.00
Availability: K-Mart, Cherry Culture

Thoughts? What's the best cheap lipstick you tried?

Haul and Sneak Peak Swatches - L'Oreal Colour Riche Extraordinaire, Garnier Fructis Marvelous Oil, Rimmel ScandalEyes Eyeshadow Paint, NYC Expert Last, And More...

Hello lovelies,

I had to run some errands on Friday and while I was doing that I found some new products and decided to pick up some to try.

At CVS, I had a 20% off coupon and I needed some Advil, well that was just my excuse to go there, lol.
I picked up a glitter nail polish from Sally Hansen Triple Shine line. It's called Twinkled Pink ($4.79). I completely forgot to take a picture of it by itself but I will do that on a different post.

Next thing I got from CVS is this Garnier Fructis Marvelous Oil for hair ($5.99). I thought the bottle looks so cute plus I like using oil on my hair so I was curious to try it.

Also from CVS, I stumbled upon the new L'Oreal Colour Riche Extraordinaire glosses. Eh they were expensive, $9.49 each. I wouldn't have gotten them if I didn't have my coupon. They seem like the slightly more pigmented version of their Colour Riche Wet Shine Lip Lacquer. I got $7.00 of Extra Care Bucks back so I will probably to back to pick another shade, lol. Will do a more in-depth review and additional swatches when I get a chance :).

Orange Tempo and Plum Adagio

I picked up at CVS, Milani Up Town Mauve ($5.29), and wow I am in love with the color! Yeah I've been really into Berry and Plum colors lately.

At K-Mart, I scooped up the new Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeshadow Paint ($5.29) in the shade Pomegranate. They had some nice neutral and earth tone colors but I decided to skip cause I already have something similar. Pomegranate is a shade that I don't think I have so that's why I got it.

NYC has some new lippies and lip crayons. I spotted a full display at K-Mart as well. I had too many jumbo lip crayons so I completely skipped them and now I'm wondering if I should've picked up at least one. I was particularly interested with the Expert Last Lipsticks. Check out the gorgeous swatches of the shades I picked up. They are pigmented and creamy but you do need 2 or 3 swipes in order to get a really opaque coverage. Still not bad at all for a $1.99 lipstick!

I found these Jordana Lipsticks at K-Mart. They were on sale for 50% off so $1.24 each. I got Hollywood Red on the left and Pom-Tini on the right. Hollywood Red is a gorgeous berry pink red, however, I won't be reviewing this one because I got a bad one. When I opened it, it smelled like it had expired for a while and when I swatched it on my arm, the color was sticky and dry. So I am definitely not putting this anywhere near my mouth, lol. Pom-tini on the other hand didn't go bad. It does have  a strong and slightly sweet plasticy scent but it was smooth and quite pigmented.

Obviously, I just can't stop shopping. I'm going to run to Ulta and use my 20% off coupon on something, lol...See you guys later!

Jordana Matte Lipstick Caramel Latte - Swatch and Review

Hello lovelies,

Hope your weekend is going well. My tummy has been hurting for the past couple of days. Not sure what is going on but it just makes me feel like I don't wanna do anything. I've been on a lipstick quick lately so expect to see more lip color reviews. I purchased this Jordana lipstick on Cherry Culture just out of curiosity a little while back. Jordana can be found at Walgreens and K-Mart but I don't think I've ever seen them carry the matte lipsticks, or it could just depend on the store.

Packaging
  • It has a clear tube and purple base, which is pretty interesting. I do like the fact that you can see the color in the tube.
  • .12 oz or 3.4 g

Product
  • Caramel Latte is a medium cool tone brown with some red undertone.
  • For a matte finish, I actually thought that the formula was pretty decent for the price. It's very pigmented. It's not very creamy but creamy enough to allow me to apply the lipstick without struggle. I didn't find it drying but neither thought it was moisturizing. You definitely would need to exfoliate and moisturize your lips with a balm before use to ensure smooth application and more comfortable wear.
  • The lipstick last about 4 1/2 hours before it starts to fade. My lips start to feel pretty dry by the 4th hour.
  • It has a sweet waxy / marshmallow scent to it. Doesn't really bother me and doesn't linger very long either.

Final Thought

Overall, this lippie is fairly good. It has strong pigmentation, long-wearing, and doesn't feel too dry. Had it been just a little more moisturizing, I think I could totally fall for it.

Jordana 12 Hr Made To Last Eyeshadow Pencils - Swatch and Review

So glad this review with conclude the new Jordana makeup I purchased about a month ago. If you've missed the previous posts, I have reviewed the Jordana Twist and Shine Moisturizing Balm Stains and the 12 Hr Made To Last Liquid Eyeliner Pencils.

Now, let's jump into this review...

Packaging
  • Jumbo eyeshadow pencil. I like simple and colorful packaging. Love the fact that it has a colored end, which makes it easy to find the shade that you want.
  • .10 oz or 2.8 g

Endless Emerald is a deep shimmery emerald shade

Continuous Almond is a matte peachy nude. Are you thinking what I'm thinking? Could this be a dupe for the limited edition Milani Shadow Eyez Almond Cream? I will do a separate post comparing the two.

Pink Evermore is a shimmery and frosty pale pink. This one had fine silver glitter in it.

Product
  • These Jordana eyeshadow pencils are available in 8 colors but I was only interested in those three.
  • I was pleasantly surprised at how creamy and pigmented these eyeshadow pencils were. They go smooth and glide easily on the lid. They set fairly quickly but still give you a few seconds to blend them out before they set.
  • I haven't got the chance to try out Endless Emerald as an eyeshadow because it was just too dramatic for an office look but I did wear it out as a liner and it wore well for the 12 hours. It only sustained minimal fading.
  • I tested the Continous Almond as a base and I think that would be how most people would use it. It did a good job evening out the skin color on my lid and did a good job as a base when I applied a powder eyeshadow over it. I did notice some minor creasing after 6 hours of wear thought and by 12 hour there was some fading with the eyeshadow as well. So as far as longevity, this is pretty average for me and didn't stick to the claim.
  • I tested Pink Evermore as an eyeshadow and this is the one that really stuck up to the 12 Hr mark without creasing or fading. The silver glitters mostly stay put and I didn't have any stray glitters unless I happen to unconsciously touch my eye and rub them somewhere else on my face. I was afraid that the glitters might be too much but it was actually pretty wearable I think. I wore it to work paired with a soft nude brown on the crease and it looked great.

Final Thought

I tested these products without the use of any other eyeshadow primer and so on their own I think they did fairly well overall even if they didn't completely live up to their 12 hr claim. I have moderately oily lids by the way. The consistency and longevity vary between the shades but they apply smoothly and give you enough time to blend out before setting. I think as liners, they performed actually better than their new liquid eyeliner pencils.

Cherry Culture Haul

It's a little past Midnight here and I hope your weekend is off to a good start. I got home about an hour ago. Yeah I was stuck at work all this time. It has been one hell of a week. Frankly, I just wanted to crawl into bed but had to post this haul. Lucky for me, the majority of it was already pre-drafted.

Back with another haul...this time beauty related stuff. I hope you took advantage of the Cherry Culture sale that happened last week because everything was 40% off and I just couldn't pass up this deal because it doesn't happen very often. There wasn't a whole lotta things I wanted, which was a good thing I guess.

I snagged two new China Glaze nail polishes from their latest Halloween collection for 2013. Well they were the only two that looked interesting to me. Regularly priced at $3.75, I was able to get them for $2.25 each. I got annoyed when I broke my nail the other day so I decided clip all my nails. I can't remember the last time I cut my nails this short.

I got curious and decided to try out one of the Jordana Matte lipstick. Regularly priced at $2.25, I got it for $1.35. I picked the shade Caramel Latte, which looks like a brownish red.

At last, the star of my haul...the reason why I had to jump on the sale...the Mehron INtense pressed eyeshadow palettes! I didn't start hearing about Mehron until pretty recently actually. I believe they specialize in theatrical makeup. These eyeshadows are matte and as the name states intensely pigmented. I can't wait to review and swatch these for you. These are priced at $52.95 each but with the sale, I got them for $31.77 so the sale was a big deal. I definitely was waiting for a sale to snag them and I'm so excited to have them now.

Did you know about the sale and if you did, what did you get?

Jordana 12 Hr Made To Last Liquid Eyeliner Pencil - Swatch and Review

I'm catching up on my Jordana reviews. I have yet to test out the pencil eyeshadows but at least I have the review for these new eyeliner pencils ready for you.

Packaging
  • Pencil with net weight of 0.04 oz or 1.2 g
Product

  • Purple Fix is a dark smoky purple with pink shimmers. I found the pigmentation ok but still wished it was slightly more pigmented and intense. It looks better when you do a second pass.
  • Jade Jewel is a dark shimmery green with a grey undertone and very good pigmentation.
  • Espresso Last is a matte dark brown with very good pigmentation.
  • I found all three of them fairly creamy and they glided easily without pulling or tugging, which is always what I look for in a pencil liner.
  • These eyeliners claim to last up to 12 hours but I found that after just a couple hours there is some slight fading and after a few hours a bit of smudging. At eight hours, I notice the color coming apart. I have moderately oily lids so I think if you have drier lids, these might last longer on you.

Final Thought

These pencils are pigmented and glide very smoothly on the skin. The lasting power is just ok in my opinion. Considering that these are supposed to last 12 hours I was hoping that they would but fell short. Overall, not too shabby for the price but didn't hold up to its claim.
