Guerlain Rouge G Lipstick Gemma (64)

So after I exchanged my previous Rouge G Grenade with Hourglass Siren lipgloss because the color was pretty close to my YSL Rouge Vermillon, I repurchased a different shade of Rouge G during the VIB sale at Sephora. This review was long overdue. I've had this lipstick for weeks and still haven't touched it until last night. Shame on me I know but yeah, had a lot of things happening to me recently.
As far as formula goes, Guerlain Rouge G do not disappoint and is a personal favorite. They are ultra moisturizing, lightweight, and pigmented. They apply smoothly and make my lips feel very comfortable. They do come with a strong cosmetic scent. It doesn't bother me but for those who are sensitive to smell, you might want to smell it before you buy. This is the most expensive lipstick that I own. It retails for $46.00. Fortunately for me, the Sephora's VIB sale brought it down to $36.80 so I'm pretty happy about that.

I believe a big portion of the cost goes toward the fancy packaging. Look at how unique and sophisticated this thing is. The mirror comes in handy but wow, seriously I prefer a more affordable packaging or at least make it so that it can be refilled and reused once the product is done. I can live with the standard-looking lipstick tube or a practical packaging. What really matters to me is what's inside.

Gemma is a rosy mauve color with some blue undertone. It also has gold micro-shimmers that don't look obvious on the lips. I like the satin sheen finish and appreciate that the color stays put. It annoys me when a lipstick feels too slippery and the color slides all over the place.

This is also a shade that would look great on everyone. I know it's not the most unique color but the formula and packaging is very luxurious and that's what makes it worth it. I would repurchase but only next time Sephora has a sale. I can't fork the full price on these. I would definitely recommend this if you don't mind the price or can wait for the sale (like me).

Do you own any Guerlain cosmetics? If so, is there something you'd like to recommend?

  1. That color is beautiful! I am thinking of going to try it... but I can't afford to pay 46 dollars on a lipstick. I got $20 off for the VIB thing but thinking of using it on a parfume I've been wanting..
