I slept in today because of work and schools are closed to the snow blizzard we had last night. Yaye!! I woke up super late cause I was up pretty late last night to take pictures of all the goodies I've been hauling. OMG, that was a lot of work I tell ya.
So if you have been watching out for the new beauty products which recently released, you probably heard about these or have already bought them. This post is to compare these two similar nail polishes so you can decide for yourself whether you want one rather than the other or go for both.
As you can see, in the bottle, they look very similar. Both have a trio-chrome mix of grey, green, and purple...but how similar are they when swatched? First check out the pictures.
OPI Not Like The Movies. 3 coats. |
Wet N Wild Gray's Anatomy. 3 Coats. |
Side by side swatch comparison |
- OPI nail polish retails about $8.50 for a full size bottle. Wet N Wild polishes cost $1.99.
- A full size OPI nail polish contains 15 mL or 0.5 oz. A full size Wet N Wild polish contains 13.5 mL or 0.46 oz.
- OPI can be found at Ulta, Trade Secret, online, and wherever you find a store that sells professional nail polishes. Wet N Wild can be found in Walgreens, CVS, drugstores, some Wal-Mart carries them too.
- Color difference/similarities. Both have green, purple, and grey. The purple color is more prominent in Gray's Anatomy. The trio-chrome effect is better on Not Like The Movies, in my opinion because the polish looks like it has more depths and dimension, whereas Grays Anatomy looks a little more "flat". Not Like The Movies has flecks of very fine gold shimmer that Gray's Anatomy doesn't have. I know I said silver shimmers on my earlier post but the more I look at it the more gold it looks actually. It's so tiny, it's hard to distinguish the real color of the flecks.
- Formula. I definitely favor the formula of OPI. Even with 3 coats, it significantly dries faster than the WNW polish. Gray's Anatomy is also sheerer than Not Like The Movies, 3 coats doesn't seem to help much. I haven't worn them long enough to tell you how well they last so I can't comment on that.
Verdict
Definitely go for the Not Like The Movies polish if you don't mind paying $6.51 more...but in return you do get what you pay for, better pigmentation, better color, and formula. However, with those extra bucks you could get yourself 2 more Wet N Wild nail polishes. In the end, I guess it's a matter of preference and how much you are willing to spend.
As with many makeup products, there may be a similarity between colors but the big difference is in the formula and price. Personally, OPI would be my pick because I prefer the quality of it and don't mind paying more for it.
Thoughts? Comments? Questions? Let me know. I'm always happy to answer to the best of my knowledge :)
Thanks for the comparison! The OPI one is nicer but so much pricier (and even pricier for me in the UK). But then again we don't even get Wet n Wild over here. Ho hum.
