October 2011 Favorites
Here are my October favorites. At least half of my monthly favorites are products that I have used for months but I try to include only my new favorites because I don't want you to get bored of same the same old ones.
1. Kenra Platinum Finishing Spray Maximum Hold. This is a product I have used for a few months but never got around to posting anything about it. I got it from Ulta by redeeming my points reward. What I like about it is that it gives my hair body without feeling stiff. It worked a lot better than most drugstore hairspray that I've tried. Now that I am running low on it, I am debating if I should repurchase or take my chances on something new. Any good hairspray you want to recommend?
2. RedKen Hot Sets 22. This spray is especially made for using hot styling tools such as curling irons. It helps prolong the curls and I really need that since my hair have a tendency to get flat fast, especially if I am sweating. It feels sticky when you first spray it on your hair, I kind of don't like that but once it dries it doesn't and hair still looks soft.
3. Chanel Perfection Lumiere foundation. The application is a bit tricky but it really lives up to its claim...long-wearing and full coverage. If you are looking to splurge on Chanel products, I don't think you can go wrong. Their products have an amazing quality. However, if you prefer something more budget friendly, you can definitely find something that works just as well for less money.
4. Eve Pearl HD Dual foundation. It's so creamy that it applies like a dream. Medium to full coverage and a little goes a long way. Satin finish. I strongly recommend setting it with a powder. I like the fact that there is a lighter and darker shade so you can customize to match your skintone.
5. MAC Superslick Liquid Eyeliner Marked for Glamour. This is a dark grey eyeliner with a slight shimmer in it. I usually reach for this when I don't want to use a black eyeliner. Last all day with no smudging.
6. Sephora Waterproof Jumbo Liner Grey. It's amazing creamy upon application but it sets within seconds. I wish it didn't, otherwise it would have worked great as an eyeshadow too. But because of that, I only use it as an eyeliner. Since it is waterproof, I really love the fact that it last all day without smudging or creasing.
7. Too Faced Eye Love Palette (Limited Edition). It was made available at Sephora a few months ago but only Beauty Insiders with 500 points or more could redeem their points for it. They included 2 shades of each of their palettes in this one sleek packaging. I think it was the best 500 point perks ever.
8. Orly Fowl Play. Dark purple base with flakies and glitters.
9. Zoya Yara. Army green base with gold and green shimmers.
10. MAC Cream Color Base Seaside (Limited Edition). It works nice as a highlight and eyeshadow base, although it doesn't perform as well as paint pots when used as eyeshadow base. Definitely requires a good primer and an eyeshadow on top. The color is a beautiful shimmery champagne.
11. Coastal Scents Camo Quad Concealer. I know a lot of people complain that this concealer is too dry and I admit is is a bit dry but that attribute works better than any other concealer when covering pimples or scars. The trick is you have to use it before you use your foundation, warm up the product with your finger and apply it with your fingers. The drier consistency of the concealer binds well to the skin so that when you follow with your foundation, it doesn't move and the foundation will even out the color. And the fact that it is very pigmented, you get superb coverage.
12. MAC Baron's Rose (Limited Edition). My MAC lipstick collection are mostly limited edition. This is the type of shade I love wearing especially in the fall. Although you can wear it year round if you like. I prefer to use a light application with this one. It's like a rose/berry color with coppery shimmers.
13. MAC Aristo-Cat (Limited Edition). It's one of the most wearable and prettiest purple I have in my collection. It looks quite unique on the lips and the gold shimmers gives it a special touch.
14. Benefit Stay Don't Stray sample. It was part of the sample I got from Sephora and I've tried it a few times to see how it compares to UDPP. It works quite well on me. I like the fact that it is creamier and thinner than Eden. Because it's a light beige color, I think this would only works on light to medium skintone.
That is it for my October favorite. Feel free to share your October faves. I am curious to know too.
