I'm Quiting Luuux

Hello Lovelies,

You may or may not know this but for the past couple years, I've been a pretty active member of Luuux, a blogging network site, which offers incentives for people who like to blog and connect with others. The incentives are pretty simple...you blog, you comment, you interact with others, and you earn points while you're doing all that. Points you can save and redeem for some nice prizes. It was a great incentive because it was engaging and interacting, which is one of the great thing I enjoyed about it other than redeeming my points for prizes.

The first and only prize I cashed in was my Canon Rebel T3i, and it took me 2 1/2 years of blogging labor in order to make it happen. I was very close to reaching my goal within the first 18 months of joining but they suddenly increased the point value by almost double. I was only a couple thousand points away from getting it and I nearly died when that happened.
I finally earned enough points to redeem for the T3i a year later and I was very lucky that I had received it right before the Luuux shop went down. It was down for over six months and nobody had a clue what was going on until this morning.

This morning, we got an email from Luuux letting us know that the shop is back in business and that they will gladly send us a free brush set or give us 9120 points for the inconvenience of the shop being down for so long. Soon enough, we all discovered that a lot of the items that were on our wishlist were no longer there and the ones that stayed tripled in price. I nearly had a stroke when I saw the new pricing. Ain't no freaking way, I'm going to ever earn enough point to get anything that I actually want from the shop. It will literally take me 5+ years. Who knows by then they probably will do another price increase. Geez!! This is the second one already and that's the last straw for me.

With that being said, I'll still continue blogging here as usual but if you joined Luuux through my links or were referred there through my posts, I would say don't even waste your time there anymore. There's a lot of commotion and disappointment with this new change. All of us who have been there for a while are very upset and feel cheated that they would put in place such a ridiculous price inflation. On top of that, as if that wasn't bad enough already, we would be required to pay with a credit card or Paypal for shipping and handling, which before we could actually use our luuux points to cover that. Not anymore.

So that's my rant for the day. If you read through my ordeal. Thank you, I appreciate.

  1. Wow, I don't think I've ever heard of Luuux. I found you through someone's blog, I think. I started reading some of your blog posts and thought, wow this is a really nice blog and added you to my reader a few weeks ago.

That is definitely a horrible way to treat loyal customers. I have a feeling they won't be around much longer or they'll soon see the error of their ways and make changes for the better. I definitely would not stick around to even find out.

    1. I'm happy to hear that you find my blog enjoyable. Luuux wasn't always perfect, but there was a time it was better and easier to reach your goals. The price increase make it nearly impossible to get anything. Then again, if you're just there for the fun of it and making friends then it's fine too. I've met a lot of nice people there. It's just the site that's disappointing.

  2. Sad to hear your negative experience with Luuux. It always seemed like to much of a hassle for me and I don't enjoy spending a lot of time earning points (my attention span is too short). On the bright side you got your camera which is a pretty lovely prize to exchange your hard earned points on ^^ I hope nobody saved up a lot of their points and didn't get to use them :/

    1. I know what you mean girl. Earning those points requires a lot of blogging and commenting. The captcha's were a real pain in the butt because sometimes I have to re-enter them more than 3 times, which was super annoying. A lot of people spammed and cheated, which was the other thing that was annoying for someone like me who earned her points the honest and hard way. It wasn't always fair game and Luuux always left us in the dark. I'm just tired of the non-sense. I think I would've shoot myself if I didn't get my camera before the shop went down. I almost didn't make it cause it was already acting up when I was trying to place my order but one day my sis found out that it worked again and told me to hurry up and order before it goes retarded again. And yes, there were a few people who saved a lot of point just to find out the item they wanted is no longer in the shop.

  3. I'm kind of surprised and not so surprised at the same time. I was on Luuux for a little while and I wasn't a fan of how they allowed other users to violate copyrights. It's pretty shady of them to raise the price so freaking much.

    1. Yeah that was another issue too. I found a lot of my pix being used there too but fortunately we have some pretty good moderators and if you notify them, they take care of it promptly. The prices are up the roof. I know I will never be able to get anything out of there with the way this is going.

  4. Yes I'm truly bummed out as well, I thought that I could work hard to earn what I wanted on the shop but now it's a major turn off for me after they raised their prices.

    1. It's not even worth it anymore. With the new prices, it's way out of reach. I'm sure the main reason why some people would still stay is because they still want to cash in with whatever they saved.

  5. I haven't been active on Luuux for the past months because I was really busy and the fact that the shop didn't work didn't encourage me to find time to blog anything. The sad part is that now I was thinking of starting to post again because I really miss those times and the community, but it's not worth the hassle. maybe I should start my own blog, who knows...
anyways, the dream of getting luxurious items I can't afford buying is now over...
I am happy though I could cash out a few times and I met lots of great people.

    1. I continued blogging because I figure they were going to reopen the shop but I did not expect to see the price hit the ceiling. That just blew my mind. They keep saying things will get better since I joined and 3 years later, there's still no improvement, only more disappointment. So yeah, they just need to cut the BS because they aren't fooling me.

    2. I'm glad you eventually got something out of it. Some people saved a lot of luuux $ since the site started and now they can't even buy what they were saving for.

    3. oh, I know that and I really feel sorry for them... it happened to me when I was trying to save for the ipad 2 to get as a present for my boyfriend's b-day... I had enough points but I decided to earn a bit more just to be safe and meanwhile the prices raised and I hadn't enough... I had to save other points, get the order shipped in a different country because it seems Romania isn't in Europe in luuux's opinion and pay some cash to had it shipped to my country, but that wasn't such big of a deal cause after all I got something good out of my hard work... I wasn't the best blogger, I really know it, but I did spend over 2 years on Luuux blogging...
I was really hoping I could save and get a LV bag or even the MK one because I could never spend that much money on a bag in real life(I'd rather help my family with that money) but after seeing what happens with the price and everything I realized that I will never be able to save enough because always something changed...so I decided to stick to smaller prizes like Sigma brushes, the ipad 2 and the Michael Kors watch... plus, that some of the great things, like your Rebella, were only available for the US...
I am really sad though that they decided to do these crazy changes and they allowed lots of spammers to join the site and ruin everything...
I decided to not delete my account hoping they'll reconsider that crazy inflation... I've seen today they added some new ways of earning points but all I see is them trying to raise the traffic on the site and not really rewarding the users...

    4. What they are doing is just business strategies, giving new hope, and continue traffic on their site. That new way of earning points should've been implemented a long time ago. They didn't have a good handle on the spammers and now they are making everyone pay for it, even the good bloggers. That's not acceptable. I think the only way they are going to reconsider the prices is when traffic decrease and all or most of the good bloggers leave.

  6. i feel totally the same... its unfortunate that theyre doing this, and i get that theyre doing it to keep up with being in business but i think their decision WILL get them out of business. Im about to quit too and just donate all my luuux points. its a good thing i can still see your posts here though! :)

    1. To be honest, unless you are a Luuux staff or owner of Luuux, you will never really know for sure the REAL reason why Luuux does what it does. However, you've seen how they treated their members, how they ignored us, how they did not ask for our opinion to make the site better, how they run the site...Even if they did not have the money or resources, which could be why the shop was closed for over 6 months, they could've done the honorable thing and told us that but instead they just left everyone in the dark and surprised us with this new change. Now they're giving us excuses and explanation when they already knew months ago. That's shady. Their new ways of earning Luuux money is just another scheme to keep your hopes up and continue posting so yeah, there's really no point of posting there because that's really what they want you to do. Thanks for keeping up with my post here :)

  7. I've never heard of Luuux until just now. But it's a shame, it sounds like such a cool idea. If you didn't hate it so much I might have given it a try, I can't stand inconsistency & people taking advantage of others -__-
