Ulta Haul

Hello Lovelies,

This morning we had some light snow and I really didn't think much of it when I left to go to work. Little did I know there was some ice underneath it and I flipped straight to the ground. I laid there in stupor for 10-15 seconds wondering if I cracked my head and if I broke anything else. As I slowly get myself up, my head did hurt but I felt alright. At that point, I was wondering if I should even go to work and I did. I asked a co-worker in Physical Therapy for some ice, which she kindly provided but it was hard trying to work and hold a pack of ice on my head. I was wondering if I was going to feel more pain later but didn't. It went away but the spot where I hit my head is a bit tender. The ice helped reducing the swelling. So yeah other than this abrupt morning fall, I made it through the day alright, though it felt longer than usual. Unfortunately, another co-worker of mine didn't have such luck and she ended up breaking her wrist :(. Moral of the story...Never underestimate what's underneath that little layer of snow. I'm always cautious and prepared when we get hit with a snow storm but it's time like these I should've been just as cautious.

You may or may not be aware that Ulta is having their 21 days of beauty promotion this month  and basically, they have daily deals on a particular product or brand. To view the schedule and save the date for your next beauty deal, follow this link http://www.ulta.com/21days/

Anyhow, it started last Sunday and I went there primarily because I totally ran out of my HG hairspray and needed another asap. I can't live without hair spray, lol. As you can see, I walked out of the store with more than just a hair spray. Surprised?

Kenra Platinum Finishing Spray Maximum Hold, $22.00. Ok so it's a bit pricey but my last one lasted me almost a year, lol, so it's worth it. Mind you that I only do about 3-4 sprays every day and this container holds 10 oz. I must've bought at least 3 of these already. I've tried a few drugstore and a couple high-end hairsprays before; however, this is the best hairspray I tried and I don't think I'm going to switch anytime soon. My hair is long and between medium and fine. I think I lost half of my hair after I had my kids and I can't seem to be able to grow them back. Hairsprays I've tried in the past just can't seem to anything. After 30 minutes or so they're back to being flat, lifeless, and static-y. This hairspray has a formidable strength. It literally looks like it freezes your hair the instant you spray it on. However, give it 5 or 10 minutes to set and you'll notice that you get a volumized, manageable, touchable, and non-sticky mane. Warning though, it is very potent so a little goes a long way. While 3 sprays don't give me all day volume, I notice that this hairspray adds a bit of thickness to my hair and helps control flyaways. You can certainly spray a little more if you want or need more hold and volume it will do the job really well but for me I'm very happy that it makes my hair feel thicker and give them a natural bounce. You must get this one if every hairspray you tried failed or if you feel you need something better.

I couldn't help but grab this Lorac Read, Set, Splash eyeliner set. 4 for $28 isn't too bad in my opinion. They are meant to be waterproof! Which you know me, I'm all ears and eyes when we're talking about waterproof eyeliners. This will be my next review so stay tuned if you wanna know more about them.

Essence Nail Art Decoration Kit, $3.49. I see some silver foil, which I have never used before so I don't even know how I'm going to make it work. There's some holographic diamond shaped silver glitters, colorful bows, jumbo silver glitters, and holographic bar glitters. Not a whole lot of product but certainly enough to do a few manis.

Essence 3D Duo Eyeshadow Irresistible Purr-ple, $3.49. It's so pretty in person, that's all I can say. The purple shade has some gorgeous blue sparkles. Stay tuned for a review, swatch, and eyelook with this shadow.

All NYX cosmetics is on BOGO 50% off, which is awesome cause I saw a few new items I was curious to try. The only thing that annoys me is that a lot of the products are wrecked and swatched so I had to dig around for one that's intact.

From left to right

  • NYX Collection Chocolate Liquid Brow Liner. This one was interesting and the first of its kind, I think, because it comes with a thin brush applicator.
  • NYX Collection Chocolate Skinny Brow Liner. One of the skinniest brow liner I've seen. Had to try it. FYI, the Chocolate brow liners are more suitable for dark brunette.
  • NYX Slide On Pencils in Glitzy Gold and Golden Bronze
  • NYX Studio Liquid Liner Extreme Coffee
  • NYX Incredible Waterproof Concealer. Is it really? I'm dying to find out.

I wasn't expecting it but they gave me a free sample size Lorac eyeshadow primer. So I said cool beans!

Lastly, I did not get this from Ulta but I went back to Lancome to exchange the eye primer and eyeshadow that didn't work out for me and decided to get the Visionnaire serum. Ughhh I just can't get over how EXPENSIVE ($69) this little bottle (only .67 oz) is but I figure it's better I pick up a skincare product rather than makeup. I tried a sample if it and like it. Gotta take care of my old self ya know.

Are you taking advantage of the Ulta 21 days of beauty? What's on your list? I have my eyes set on the Too Faced BB cream that goes on sale this Thursday. I literally asked for the day off, lol. Plus I gotta do my taxes.

  3. Oh no! I'm sorry to hear about your accident! I'd still go and get checked out just in case - a small tumble can turn into something bigger. If you have any headaches or further pain I'd definitely go to the doctor or ER!

  8. Eek, glad you're okay! I freaking hate snowy weather. I couldn't live in a place that snows for sure. Kenra is one of my absolute favorite brands but I haven't tried that spray. Definitely going to pout that on my list.

    1. Thanks, I'm alright :). All I can say is none of the hairspray I tried in the past compared to it. I'm sure there are other good ones out there but since I found this, I just haven't been in the mood to search for another.

  11. I got a kick out of the "cool beans" part. Not many people say that any more yet I find myself saying it an awful lot, especially when I'm talking with my son. LOL! The nail kit has some serious potential for beautiful manicures (and the price really doesn't seem too, too bad).
