Milani Color Statement Black Cherry - Swatch and Review

Hello Beautifuls,

Yesterday was a pretty full schedule for me so I did not get a chance to post anything. In fact, I'm trying hard to catch up. **Sigh** Working weekends took away some of that free time that I had to draft the majority of my posts for the week. So I'm basically typing my post the same day I publish it.
Daylight saving got me all messed up today and I could hardly peel myself off of bed this morning. My head hurts a little from lack of sleep.

Anyhow before I go into more detail about this post, let me just share that I went to see The Great and Powerful Oz yesterday with my daughter and loved the movie. It's not a remake of the classic Wizard of Oz but more of the story of how he came to be. I think children and adult will enjoy this film as it had a great sense of humor and good story line. I'm typically more inclined to watch action movies but I still had fun with this one.

I've never owned the older version of Black Cherry but based on the swatches I've seen, it looks pretty darn close, if not the same. It's a dark wine red color, which ended up looking much lighter on my skin that it does in the tube. I was actually hoping that it would look darker. It is also a cream finish. The formula is very pigmented and opaque. It feels creamy and glide easily upon application. There is some minor and small uneven patch of color but I don't think it looks too obvious. In spite of how creamy it glides on, it will not hide or erase any dryness you might have, which is a bummer but overall, it's not too bad and you can certainly make it work by prepping your lips prior to application.
I typically get up to 4 hours of wear with these Color Statement lipsticks and though I have not tested the wear on this particular shade, I'm sure it will last beyond that and leave a stain behind.

Overall, I think these new Milani Color Statement are fairly good lipsticks, though I've tried better drugstore formulation. They are heavily scented so do keep that in mind before you buy.

Stay tuned for my haul post...It will probably be up tomorrow since I have not had the chance to type it up.

  6. This is a beautiful shade! I love these kinds of colors. I don't however, like heavily scented lipsticks so this one would be a no go for me despite the pretty shade. I hate lipsticks with scents and I hate glosses with flavors.

I saw "Oz the Great and Powerful" this weekend too. I loved it. I wish I had seen it in 3D afterwards though, I know the 3D would have been spectacular. I'm pretty sure there's going to be a sequel (probably the remake of The Wizard of Oz). Have you heard?

    1. There are certain scents that don't bother me much and there are some that just make me sick. I would prefer unscented.

I didn't hear that they were going to make another OZ movie but I wouldn't be surprised if they did and I would love to see it too. I don't bother watching 3D just cause I don't like wearing those glasses, lol.

I love it. I wanna try out a dark color like this as well but I think it doesn't look good on me.

    1. I rarely wear red lipsticks but I do like it though. I am sure you can pull off reds too. Sometimes when we are not used to see a certain color on ourselves our mind just think it doesn't suit us.

  9. I LOVE this color & it looks great on you. I've been looking for a lipstick similar to the one Rihanna has on her new album cover & this one looks super close, a little brighter but I think I HAVE (don't really need to, but I'm addicted to lippies) to try it anyway. lol

    1. I think what you can do is mix two shades together to get the desired color.

    1. Thanks...as long as they are not lighter than my natural lips then I think I can make them work :D
