Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain Balm Flamme - Swatch and Review

Hello there!

What a busy weekend it has been for me! I was hoping I could work on my blog today but something else came up so that didn't happen. At least, I was able to take some pictures. I have a lot of editing to do.
Meanwhile, I wanted to get this review out for you. I have a couple of these and I'm surprised I never reviewed them.

Packaging

  • This is a marker type of lipstain. Though I don't use them much, I've had them for a while. They're still juicy and don't dry out easily so that's a good sign.
  • The other end of the pencil holds a lip balm, about half an inch of product. The lip balm is fairly decent and I don't detect any scent on it. You'd have to be very careful when removing and putting back on the cap because you can easily nip a chunk of it.

  • Flamme is a cherry red color that looks slightly warm on me.

Here's a swatch without the balm. The finish looks matte.

Swatch with the balm. The finish looks slightly shinier and lips look more moisturized.

Product

  • The stain is very pigmented but the application can look a bit uneven when you look up close. However, that's not something really noticeable.
  • It looked perfect and intact the 4 hours I was wearing it. I noticed a significant amount of fading after I had lunch. Not only did it fade, it also looked terribly blotchy when it did.
  • The remaining stain lasted through the next morning.
  • The stain has a nice fruity scent to it.

Final Thought

I sported this lip stain the other day I was off from work and I totally loved the color on me. The long-wear of the lipstain is great but the blotchiness after it faded doesn't look attractive. You definitely need to reapply after you eat. One thing I really love about it is that the color doesn't transfer on to my teeth, which is a problem I normally have with red lip colors. Lips feel dry without the lip balm so it's nice that they included one as it makes them more comfortable.

My rating: 8/10.

  1. Glad you're quite satisfied with the product quality because I was soo put off by how drying it was for me and the patchiness I can't let off! I guess having dry lips in the first place make a big difference! I do like that shade on you, its such a nice pop and looks great on your skin!

    1. It's a product that does require your lips to be prepped before application. I admit, I often don't have time for that but when I do, I like the result. I also recommend using a good lipbalm over it.

  2. This look great on you. I would definitely have to wear this with a balm...I hate dry lips.

    1. Yes, I did wear it with the balm and it made my lips much more comfortable.

  3. I used to have a few of these and I didn't like how obvious lip perfections became, especially with the patchy fading. The balm stain they released recently is a huge upgrade and I love, love, love the reds. The wear is much more even.

    1. I agree, the newer stains are definitely better. I got this way before the new stains came out, lol, and never tried it until recently. One of the main reason I really like this is because it doesn't get on my teeth, haha. I don't sport red lips very often and when I do, I always have to check my teeth. With this one, I didn't have to worry about that. I looked great until after I got done eating but the patchiness can be fixed by reapplying :)

  4. The blotchy fading is what keeps me from buying any. I'm someone who can be bad about checking for the need to reapply.... and I'd end up walking around with goofy blotchy lips for a while before I realize I need to touch up. :-( The color is very pretty, though

    1. I'm the same way. It only got worst after I got done eating so if you reapply after you eat, you are pretty much ok for the next 4 hours before the fading and blotching occurs.
