OPI San Francisco Collection Swatches

The OPI San Francisco collection is out now and consist of 12 shades, which also includes three new liquid sand polishes. I of course didn't need them all but I managed to get my hands on a few.

I've only been to San Francisco once but that was way back in 2004 I think. I thought it was quite beautiful and unlike any city I've seen before but I didn't get a chance to explore much of it since I caught a pretty bad flu while I was there. I've never been so sick in my life but I have not had the flu since.

On my last trip to Ulta, I picked up Alcatraz...Rocks, a new liquid sand polish and it's probably one of my favorite so far. The base is a bluish purple with a grey undertone and it has pink, purple, green, gold sparkly shimmers in it. Formula was not too thick or thin, very easy to work with, and two coats was enough to offer even coverage and opacity.
Sooo pretty! If you're getting only one thing out of this collection, get this one!

I purchased the rest of this collection at the local nail supply in town. I was so glad that they had it because they sold for just $5.00 each. Whereas at Ulta, they are $9.00 a bottle.

Peace & Love & OPI. Probably didn't need this one because it looked just like Essie For The Twill of It that I just picked up few days ago but I was curious to find out how they compare and I will post a comparison between the two on a separate post. This polish has a strong duochrome shifting from grey, teal, and purple. Not too thin or thick and with a formula that applies smoothly. The only problem I ran into was that it really shows the brush strokes. All it needed was just two coats.

Muir Muir On The Wall is a dark polish with very fine burgundy shimmers running through it. It looks a bit duochrome in the bottle but barely noticeable on the nails. It's a bit sheer but surprisingly, I was able to get opacity in just two coats. That sheerness certainly added a bit more depth to the shimmers and it's so pretty! I thought the formula was fantastic and flows very smoothly.

I Knead Sour-Dough is a medium dark brown with a reddish undertone and very fine red shimmers. It's quite a lovely color and looks very much like fall. Formula was also fantastic and smooth. Not too thick or thin and perfect in two coats.

Overall the collection was just ok. A few pretty shades but most of them didn't have any special about them. What do you think? Anything you'll be grabbing or already have?

  2. The first two are the only two that I want from this collection. I especially want Alcatraz...Rocks. I saw this on another blog a few days ago and I loved the look of it! I'm so behind on commenting on my fave blogs...trying to catch up. LOL

  7. I went to San Fran last June and I was so excited for this collection, but meh, the shades. I have Wharf! Wharf! Wharf! since that place was amazing. San Andreas' Fault one 'cos I'm a weather nerd so I really just wanted it for the name, hahaha. I was hesitant to get them because I hate textured polishes but I've come to find I actually really like the liquid sand! I'm wearing Wharf! right now. My polish is chipping now so I'll put the "earthquake one" on tonight.

    1. The only thing I saw in SF is the Golden Gate bridge, China Town, and the lights of the city at night. Otherwise, I was too sick to do much. I love textured polishes but I prefer the ones with sparkles hehe. I agree most part of the collection is underwhelming.
