YSL Rouge Volupte - Forbidden Burgundy

I have been quite obsessed with burgundy and plum shades this season. I was on the hunt for the perfect dark plum lips, which is why I picked up this color. I bought this online so I wasn't 100% sure how it was going to turn out but I had a general idea. I don't really like buying online but sometimes you save more, get more, or have better selection when you order online. That would be one reason why I'd give it a go.

First off I wanna say the packaging of this lipstick is gorgeous and luxurious. It was a nice weight to it, beautiful cut out logo, and a cute round little mirror on the top of the lipstick cap.
I would describe the shade as a medium plum or deepened fuschia. As far as the formula goes, it glides very smoothly on my lips. The consistency is similar to a lipgloss. It's very pigmented, quite moisturizing, and light weight. It has a noticeable scent but I can't find the words to describe it. I particularly do not find the scent offensive. It lasts about 2-3 hours on my lips. Because it is a darker shade, it will fade by leaving behind a pretty stain.
My complaint about this lipstick is that it is hard to apply straight from the tube because the tip of the lipstick is quite wide and round. It's not a major con but would require another tool like a lip brush to apply it. Another thing that bothered me a bit is that the formula is slippery so I would suggest using a lipliner, don't over apply, and blotting to prevent the mess. I'm a little bummed that it looked similar to some other shades I already have, lol, I guess that's my fault. I really wish it was darker. Nonetheless, I still like it.
This lipstick retails for $34.00. I would recommend you test it out in store before you buy since it's quite an investment.
