Circle Lens Haul From Pinky Paradise & First Impressions

About little while ago I placed an order with *Pinky Paradise and I was pretty excited when my package arrived yesterday. I am certainly overdue for new contacts. The ones I've been wearing were getting old but surprisingly still holding well. This would be my 3rd order with Pinky Paradise and though their prices might be a bit higher than some other places, they have been a pretty reliable source for me and they have a huge selection and contact lens inventory. I wear a pretty strong prescription cause I'm almost blind and they offer a lot of lenses for up to -10. I'm almost there...ughhh. Just can't afford laser surgery yet. Shipping from Maylasia to me in the U.S. took approximately 2 weeks for standard shipping, which isn't too bad. They charged me $9.00 for shipping, pretty high if you ask me. So price-wise, they're not the cheapest but I don't know of any other reliable suppliers.

Before I made my purchase, I spent hours on the site and googling for pictures and I found it hard to find clear and true to life images. A lot of them were either blurry, too photoshoped, too small...well you get the idea. They have pictures of models wearing their contacts, it helps but I have no doubts that the photos have been retouched thus hard to see how they truly look. I'm sure if you've tried searching, you know what I mean. With that in mind, I'm trying my best to deliver better images so that it can also help others who have the same dilemma as I did.

I ordered 3 different shades. I wanted more than that but my total was going to be pretty high so I figure I'll made another purchase at a later date. Each lens come in its own glass vial. My package arrived in a padded envelop but the glass vials were securely wrapped in a thick foam blanket as you see on the first picture above. So they arrived in perfect condition.

As always, they include a cute animal contact lens case with each pair of contacts. I always wash and disinfect them with alcohol before use.

Some of you may already know this but for those who don't, here's a little tip on how to open the vials.

1. Find the notch on the cap. This is where you will start to pull the cap.
2. Pull it up and slightly back and twist counter-clock wise. The metal piece should come off fairly easily that way. If by some chance things don't work out, never attempt to use your fingers to remove the metal seal. It's very sharp and you can potentially cut yourself. Instead, I would suggest you use pliers.
3. Once you pop the metal seal, you can remove the rubber top and get your lens out of the vial.
4. Place your lens in a contact lens case and fill it with your regular contact lens solution.
5. Let it soak for an hour or two before use.

G&G GBT Violet, 14.0 mm diameter, $19.90.
The color is not too bright but not too subtle either. You can definitely see it. They don't look very natural if you stare at them within a few inches away, then again most colored contacts hardly look natural up close anyways, but from a normal arm-length distance, they do blend in well with my natural eye color (dark brown). So I'd say, these are appropriate for daily wear.

Geo Bella Grey, 14.2 mm, $19.90.
This is the most natural-looking from the pack. These were darker than I anticipated. On the model, they appeared a little lighter. The enlargement effect is just right and color is very subtle. If you want noticeable color, skip this lens. I always think it's nice to have at least one or two pairs that looks natural.

Venus Eye Aqua, 14 mm, $25.90.
Now these lenses pack a punch in terms of color. Aqua is a very vibrant teal. I don't see many contacts lens that come in this color. The design is pixelated so when looking up close, you can see they look unnatural. However, within an arm-length distance, they don't look too bad actually. I do like them. They really give my eyes a bright pop of color, have a nice glossy shine, and make my eyes look a bit anime in a cool kind of way. I can't wait to pair these lens with a smoky sultry look.

I have relatively small eyes so I prefer a subtle enlargement effect and the smallest you can get is 14.0 mm. The bigger the enlargement the more unnatural and alien-like your eyes will look. I also find that the smaller ones are more comfortable and less drying. If you've never worn colored contacts before, it will take a bit for your eyes to adjust and get used to them. I remember the first time I tried colored contacts, I had occasional vision blur. They were actually non circle lens. The Freshlook contacts to be exact. I've been wearing contacts for as long as I can remember and I'm fortunate that I don't typically suffer from dry eyes so I'm usually able to wear them for a long time without irritation.

So far, I think these 3 pairs are very comfortable and I can't even feel them when I have them on. Honestly, they are much more comfortable than the Freshlook contacts I used to wear. I know there is a lot of taboo in the media in regards to circle lens and how they can be harmful, and blah blah blah...but I've worn them for years and nothing happened to me so I think that's just bunch of American BS. No offense to anyone but my point is that not everything you hear on the media is true.

There you have it, my initial impression of them. I don't know if my opinion will change but if you want me to do an updated review, let me know.

What do you think of circle lens? Love them or hate them? Scared of them? Which one do you like?
Where do you purchase your contacts?

  1. I have worn contacts for 21 years now and I an one of those people scared to death of circle lenses... And I'm guessing the horror stories I heard were from people who got them from sketchy sources and didn't normally wear contacts. I have an unusual prescription in that my contacts are considered "flat" because my eyes aren't super round. Do you put your prescription in just like how its written from the doctor? I might want to try these!

    1. you can select the prescription just like the ones you get from the eye doctor. They range from -0 to -10. I don't know if circle lens are right for you since your eye are considered flat. The lens are pretty round and curvy. If you are interested, you might just try one to see how that goes before ordering more.
On a previous order of circle lens, I did come across one that was defective cause I can feel it scratching my eyes a bit but I immediately removed it and stopped wearing it. My guess is that I think some people just don't know better, like you said especially if they don't normally wear contacts. I agree, you definitely need to order from reliable sources. I've found other places that sell the lens for much less but I've never heard of them before so I wasn't sure. I've seen a lot of reviews and people using contacts from Pinky Paradise so they've been my go-to store for circle lens.

    1. They are and they are pricier too. I can't help but feel a bit ripped off, especially with the shipping considering they are probably making a 75% profit off the lens already.

  4. I've never tried to wear contacts before, but I'd like to change my eye colour for one day! They all look really good but the teal is so awesome, I love how cartoon-y your eyes look from further away! xx

    1. They can be difficult to put on if you've never worn contacts before so it may take a little while to get used to them. I don't know if your eyes need prescriptions but they do have colors without prescriptions as well.

    1. Thank you dear. I've been wanting to get laser surgery for a while but insurance doesn't cover for that so the procedure is a bit high for my out of pocket. Plus I'm scared! If I didn't have to wear them I wouldn't honestly but my eye sight is so bad that I need them.

  9. Do these last a year with wearing them everyday or just once in a while?

    1. With constant use I feel it is best to replace the lenses 3-6 months after first wearing them. Some people keep them for a year or more, but it's only about thirty dollars to replace old lenses and our eyes are worth it. My two cents.
I know this is an old question, however others may see it and want an answer.

    2. Thanks for your recommendation. I somehow didn't see Alyssa ' s comment. I've been able to wear mine for one year without any issues. I have several pairs so I rotate them. You can definitely replace them before 1 year if you feel that you need to.
