Sally Hansen Sugar Coat Royal Icing Swatches

I spotted this new textured polish from Sally Hansen at Walgreens a few days ago and instantly fell in love at how pretty it looked in the bottle. What we have here is a baby blue color with sparkling gold and pink shimmers. Kind of hard to capture how pretty it is in person but hopefully you get the idea.

When I pulled out the wand, I was like Ohh that looks sheer! I wasn't expecting that but ok. The brush is not too big or too small. Just the perfect size for me and it's flat.

Here I have 4 coats of Royal Icing and as you can see it still looks pretty sheer and my nail lines are still visible. I'm not really happy about that but otherwise, the way the gold and pink shimmers plays against the blue is quite beautiful. The texture is rather smooth. You can hardly feel it.

I used Essie Turquoise & Caicos as base and 2 coats of Royal Icing on the above picture. I love it much better that way. I've also noticed that Royal Icing takes a while to dry. Much longer than I would like, otherwise, it is beautiful. I just wished the formula was better.

Price: $7.49 (Look out for a $1.00 coupon on the display)
Availability: Walgreens

  1. I love it over the Essie polish! It does look just like a sugar coating!

  2. I dont like texture polishes but that looks so pretty! The blue looks so much better on your nails than in the bottle! It looks even better with the essie polish underneath :o hopefully they come out with a fast drying formula :( I always end up ruining my nails waiting for them to dry

    1. I like the textured polish that have sparkles and this one has. Usually textured polishes dry faster. I don't know why this one doesn't.

  3. cool! definitely looks better with the base coat of essie. My OPI liquid sands doesn't need anything underneath if that's an indicator of any differences!

    1. So far it's the only textured polish I tried that was sheer.

  4. That looks so pretty with that blue base coat. I can't stand visible nail lines, myself. :P

  5. This one looks good on you...I've read some pretty mediocre reviews on the Sally Hansen Sugar Coat polishes. Since I know there are a lot of better textured polishes out there, I'd pass on these.

    1. Despite of the formula, I still like the pretty shimmers. This polish does require some patience.
