Review & Swatch - Maybelline Master Drama Eye Liner

I received these eyeliner as gifts from the lovely Amy that I met on Luuux.
What this product claims to do on the packaging: creamy glide bold color lasting up to 24 hours.

Packaging
  • Retractable pencil, which is nice cause you don't have to sharpen. The down side to that is that you will not be able to achieve a thin line with these and there is no sharpener included.
  • .01 oz or .28 g
  • The color of the cap maches the color inside. That's always helpful.
  • The odd thing about it is that it only twists up. You can't twist it back down. So if you say wanted to see how much product you have inside and twisted the whole thing out, well you'll be out of luck.

Color
  • I believe there is 6 colors to choose from but I only have two of them.
  • Vibrant Violet - I seriously don't get how they came up with the name. There is nothing "vibrant" about this color. It's a dark violet with a hint of shimmer.
  • Bold Brown - it's a dark brown with a hint of shimmers also.

Product
  • I'm always skeptical with drugstore eyeliners who claims to be creamy, long-wearing, etc, because the majority of the time, I get disappointed. These swatched easily on my hand but not the same on my eyes.
  • When I lined my eyes with these, I find the formula a bit dry so it didn't really "glide" or feel "creamy". The application wasn't horrible but not as good as they claim.
  • Secondly, because the formula isn't that creamy, there is a lack in pigmentation on the first pass. You would have to do a second pass to get a better pigmentation.
  • I did like the fact that these didn't budge and last all day on me under normal condition, which is an average of 8-10 hours. They also wear well for a few hours on the waterline. As far as lasting 24 hours, who wants to have their makeup on for that long? I didn't test it that long just so you know.
  • Price will vary depending on where you purchase them but they cost about $6-7.

Conclusion
Overall, these are not the best as far as application goes but they are manageable and do wear well throughout the day. If you are a low budget and need a decent pencil eyeliner, these might work for you. On the other hand if you are picky like myself you may want to look for other options.
My rating 7/10.
