Revlon Colorstay Creme Gel Liner Black - Review & Swatches

This is one of the new products that Revlon released this year. Out of curiosity, I picked it up along with some Revlon Lip Butters because they were on BOGO 50% at Walgreens. The main reason why I got it was because it came with a brush! LOL, ain't that something eh?
At first, I wasn't sure how this product works but once I unwrapped the package and took everything out I was like OHH! That wasn't what I had in mind. For whatever reason, could be the way the packaging looks, I thought that the brush actually always stayed in contact with the gel and that you use it kinda like how you use a liquid eyeliner.

Packaging
  • As far as that goes, I think it's practical and the attached brush is very convenient and comes in handy. The brush has two parts. First twist the cap from the jar, pull the brush out of the cap, turn it around and insert the other end in it.
  • The brush is actually well made and has the firmness and flexibility that you need to line your eyes. The tip of the brush is not the finest but works well.
  • There is .08 oz or 2.3 g of product in that tiny pot, a little less than a MAC Fluidline which contains .10 oz of product. I've included a picture of a MAC Fluidline next to it to give you a better idea of how much you get.
  • It's not very bulky and I think the packaging is travel friendly.

Formula
  • As far as the formula goes, it's not the blackest black liner I've come across but it is dark enough.
  • The texture is pigmented, creamy, and glide easily when I lined my eyes.
  • The gel only takes a few seconds to set. Once it sets, this liner last me all day without smudging or fading. That's pretty awesome!

Final Thought

You get a much better value if you buy this product on a BOGO sale. This is smaller than the typical gel liner pot I'm used to. If you are looking for a very black gel liner, I would say skip this one. Otherwise, the packaging is great, the brush works well, and the quality also meets my expectation.
My rating: 9.5/10.

  1. These look nice and compact but with my experience with gel liners, you have to wash the brush after every use or it gets crusty and unusable.

    1. I agree, cleaning an eyeliner brush is inevitable for gel liners, that's why liquid liners always remain my favorite type of liners.
