I'M Stocked!!! My New Camera, Sample Pictures, and First Impression

I wasn't even looking to buy a camera but last weekend when I was out shopping with my sister at Target, I was playing with their display cameras just for fun. I took some snapshot with this camera I was like WOAH! This camera is AMAZING!
I read several reviews and they were pretty good so since I wasn't able to get it off my mind, lol, I caved in and bought it yesterday.
It retails for $200.00, which is really not too shabby for what it can do.

Here are the specs:
  • Model: Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-WX9 (black)
  • 16.2 Mega Pixels with CMOS sensor
  • 5x optical zoom
  • Full HD movie
  • 3 D sweep panorama
  • 3 inch LCD screen

So far, I'm still experimenting with the camera and I'm pretty pleased with the picture quality. This camera has some features I'm really excited about.
  • 3D image capability. Ok, so I tried taking 3D pictures but it says in the instruction that you need a 3D screen in order to get the 3D experience. So I guess for now this isn't going to do me any good, lol, but still nice to have.
  • It has the capability to soften portrait images so you can have soft and smooth looking skin. Woo hoo! Yay! I'm gonna look so much prettier now lol...Don't be surprised. You can blame my camera.
  • It has the capability to defocus on the background so that the focused subject stands out more. So far this has been my favorite feature, lol. It gives pictures that DSLR feel, minus the cost and bulky packaging. That's two thumbs up for me.
One thing I noticed that I don't really like is that in some pictures, the colors may appear over-saturated. I wonder if there is something I can change in the setting to fix that. Other than that, this little bad boy can take really amazing pictures. Check out the sample pictures I've taken and tell me what you think.

  1. These pictures look great! I'm looking to buy a new camera too, but not any time soon because it's kinda pricey. Meanwhile, I'll keep playing with lighting and hope my pictures turn out better.

    1. Do you also use a picture editing software? It's also a great tool to use for adjusting the lighting and colors that your camera cannot properly capture. Although having a good camera helps reduce all that editing which can be very time consuming.

Woo hooo! Thank you. I'm gonna have to start posting larger pictures now.

  5. Images seems pretty good! I'm looking to buy a DSC, but i dont know which one!!! (wx7, wx9 or wx 10) Mainly my purpose is to shoot macro images, so i need manual control of focusing. I watched a video at www.esupport.sony.com (macro imaging settings: TX10 Vs WX10, change focusing manually in iAuto setting in P mode. I want to know, whether this wx9 can do the same manual control as well? Thanks.

    1. There isn't much control with this camera when it comes to focusing. You can use a couple of the setting on the camera to get a certain desired effect. But once you press that shutter, the camera will auto focus on the subject. For the most part, the pictures turn out nice but if you want very sharp and crips close up pictures, I would not recommend this camera. The focus is a little on the softer side. I hope this helps.
