Burt's Bees 100% Natural Lip Gloss Sweet Sunset - Swatch and Review

I haven't tried that many Burt's Bees products. I think a lip balm and cuticle cream but wasn't completely wowed by it. I stumbled upon this lipgloss at Walgreens and it was on clearance for a few bucks so I thought I give it a try. Now this claims to be 100% natural. Honestly, I'm not even sure how much of that is true. The featured ingredient is sunflower oil, which is meant to nourish and condition. You can read the rest of the ingredients HERE.

Packaging
  • Simple and practical. Has some honeycomb embossed on to the cap, which is a nice touch.
  • Doe foot applicator.
  • .2 oz or 6 ml

Product
  • First time I tried, the gloss felt thick and doesn't want to glide like a good lipgloss would. I had to really work with it in order to spread the color to my lips. But after using it a few times, I've also noticed that as it got warmer, the gloss glides easier and spreads more evenly. It's still leaning on the thick side, with some mild stickiness to it.
  • Sweet Sunset is a sheer bronze color with what appears to be burgundy shimmers. It looks so dark in the tube so I was expecting it to be more pigmented but applied a lot more sheer than I anticipated. Other than that, it still gave me a bit of color.
  • It has a sweet waxy scent. It also tastes a bit waxy too. Ehh not really loving it but I've smelled worst.
  • It get about 2-3 hours of wear before it starts fading and I find it fairly moisturizing.

Final Thought

Nothing to write home about. I can get past the scent. I like the color but I was surprised by the lack of pigmentation because it looks so saturated in the tube. Though fairly moisturizing, it could use some improvement in the texture. I just don't feel like there's anything "special" about it.

Rating: 7.5/10

Price: $8.99
Availablity: Walgreens, Target

Ever tried these glosses? Did you love them?

    1. I know huh. I always worry about the scent when it comes to lippies.

    1. It looks very opaque in the tube so yeah I was surprised how sheer it looked when I swatched it.

  3. I guess it looks okay, it just doesn't look worth the $9 retail tag. I was hoping this would be more pigmented, not all sheer like a tinted balm :(

    1. Yeah I'd totally skip it with the original price tag but since I got it on sale, I decided to give it a try.
